No one ever comforted her that way. Everyone kept telling her not to cry. No one even asked why she was in pain or if she was in pain. not even her own dad.

The corner of her mouth turned downward, and her eyes widened as if bracing for an emotional storm. Suddenly, the quiet moments of discomfort transformed into a full-blown wail.
