Ellie’s P.O.V. Exhaling sharply, I turned. Zack stood a few steps away, one hand in his pocket, the other loosely holding his phone. There wasn’t a speck of concern on his face. His keen gaze moved over my face, scanning me, as he added casually. “I came to visit Dad. Didn’t realize I had walked into a storm.” Heat crept up my neck. I looked away. “You can go back to your day. I don’t need an audience.”

I need to get a grip. His gaze drops beside me to the photo booth strip I’d dropped when his voice jolts me. He stares at it for a moment, never lifting his eyes from the glossy paper. “Do you have a photo booth strip for all your flings?” I ask. He doesn’t look up. “Sasha is anything but a random fling.” “ Oh,” “She’s an ex-girlfriend,” Kai says, his eyes boring into me. “That’s all I’m going to say about it.”

"Matteo said the Executioners—" "The Executioners are at the front gate, keeping Matteo occupied with 'legalities' and jurisdictional bullshit," Kai hissed, stepping closer. His eyes were frantic. "I don't have long. I slipped through the tunnels, but Ezra’s people are watching the internal cameras." "Kai, what’s happening? The photo, the book—Matteo thinks my family—" "Forget the book for a second," Kai interrupted, grabbing my shoulders. His hands were shaking. "I found Knox."

He seemed like the leader of the group and the rest stared at me with eager gaze, waiting for me to take a seat. I let out a long sigh, knowing I might regret this, but I still found myself taking a seat. This was a new experience, and that's what college life was all about. Having new experiences. “I'm Erick, and this is Shanteen, Daisy, Frank, Sarah, Kelly and Gideon.” The guy in the black jacket introduced everyone, including the drunk tattooed guy who had brought me here which I now know his name to be Gideon. “I'm Kiara.” I muttered and Erick smiled at me.

I gulp, sensing also that thick chemistry in the air. I feel his arms leave my waist as he stops moving. My hearbeat fires up when he takes my face in his hands and fixes my lips for some seconds. His eyes then flutter closed as he slowly leans in till his lips touch mine. And then catastrophe. How familiar they taste. Soft, sweet, appetizing. I've kissed only one person in one life and it was Eren. Right now, I can feel the same lips which gave me my first kiss. But what do I know? Maybe all lips feel the same.

Dark hair falling over his face. Straight out of Kai’s gay little dreams. The boy looked at Kai, smiled faintly, and said, “Hey, cutie.” Kai turned red so fast it was a medical emergency. “H-hi. Nice to meet you.” “I’m Dexter,” the guy said. “Call me Dex.” “I’m Kai,” he managed, voice soft. “Nice to meet you too.” “You’re really cute,” Dex said. “Maybe we could get to know each other?” Kai’s soul left his body. “W-what do you mean?”

Third Person POV “So,” Enzo said, “You’re here because you need a safe place to stay?” “Yes,” Sasha swallowed hard. “I know it’s a lot to ask. But you see, I have the papers that show the chemical make-up of the hybrid grapes. The molecular structure, if you will. I have to submit those to the FDA, to show that the grapes are illegal. Without those papers, no one would be the wiser, since they have fake FDA papers showing that the grapes were approved.”

Kai yawns lazily, rearranging the game on the bed, ignoring Rene's agonized look. Rene groans inwardly when Kai blinks at him expectantly to pick a card. Rene does not want to hurt his feelings; Kai has been the only one who talks to him and has always been nice. "How about we talk instead of playing?" "About what?" "Um... about your mate, how did you meet?" Kai's eyes light up almost instantly at Rene's question. "I used to belong to a small clan. One day, we were attacked by the Dahomes; that's where I met Haesir; he wanted me and claimed me as his mate at first sight."

All three of them turned as Caleb stepped into the circle, his smirk firmly in place. “Well, this is a rare sight,” Caleb said, looking between Daniel and Tyler. “The tech genius and the ex-fiancé. Quite the lineup, Samantha.” “Caleb,” Samantha warned, her voice low. But Caleb wasn’t deterred. “You always did have a way of attracting attention.” Daniel straightened, his expression unreadable but his jaw tight. “Oh we meet again” “Ah, the new contender,” Caleb said, offering his hand with mock enthusiasm. “Caleb Rinders. Old friend of Samantha’s.”

It was built on favors, debts, and the understanding that when one of them called, the other listened. Enzo owed him one. Kane intended to collect. He pressed the call button. The phone rang twice. "Shawn." Enzo's deep voice came through. "Enzo."
