Because the gods are laughing at me. “Evening,” Jack says, his deep voice rich with exhaustion. Gavin nods. Harrison raises a brow. I smile weakly. “Didn’t realize this elevator had a VIP after-party.” Jack leans against the wall. “Don’t worry, Parker. This is an express elevator. You’ll be on the ground, in the open air in no time.”

My arms flew while I look at JerkAss like he's crazy, which he is by the way. JerkAss face shows no emotion, none, zip-po. "Oh my goodness, we're inside an elevator. An elevator!" I shrieked, looking around the elevator like it's made up of cockroaches; besides, it's really creepy! The lights are blinking like the ones in the horror movies, the walls are violated by random writings and unknown green slimes. Plus, there are blood drops on the floor. My eyes widened, before looking at Jerkzass accusingly. "Are you finally planning to kill me!? Please, don't torture me!" And the elevator door dinged.

The air coming from inside the building was cold, stale and smelling of ozone and the copper tang of dry blood. ​"The elevators are dead weight," Captain Kael said, his voice echoing in the hollowed-out lobby. He shone a high-intensity tactical light into the darkness, revealing the elevator shafts, four empty, black throats that stretched upward into infinity. "The counterweights snapped when the power spiked. If we want the 80th floor, we’re taking the emergency stairs. All eighty flights." ​"Then we start climbing," Leo said, his voice a gravelly rasp.

“What is this” I murmur, reaching out to touch the smooth surface just as she presses another button and the enclosure slides close making me panic. “Wow so you can speak… Oh well this strangely claustrophobic space we’re in, is called an elevator. It’s not going to hurt you. It just… takes us upstairs without using the stairs” “I prefer stairs” I mumble “What if we get locked in with no way out?” She chuckles “I’m getting too old to deal with stairs dear. And with all the dancers parading around, I figured this was safer—for you, at least. Wouldn’t want anyone harassing you along the way”

Wait, as I can recall someone made me smell a drowsy handkerchief which made me unconscious and now we’re here. I tried to feel our surroundings and I realized that the elevator never opens. I can’t even feel it moving. Lucifer suddenly moved as if he was about to be awakened so I looked at him and wait until he opened his eyes. “Where are we?” he asked while touching the back of his head. “Lucifer… I think w-we’re trapped inside an elevator?..” His eyes widened as soon as he heard what I said.“W-what?!!” He quickly stood up and looked around. “W-What the fuck?!” I also stood up and tried to push all the buttons of the elevator but it seems like it’s not working.
