The lost Mafia princess

The lost Mafia princess

The morning sun bathed the mansion in a warm glow, but the tension inside the house was anything but comforting. Elizabeth sat at the kitchen counter, sipping her coffee, her mind preoccupied with the stranger Mike had brought home the night before. Her thoughts swirled as she replayed the scene in her head—Mike stepping into the mansion with the woman, his face hard and unreadable as he offered no explanation beyond a curt statement: “She needed help.” Elizabeth wasn’t against helping others, but she couldn’t ignore the unease settling in her chest. They were new to this country, trying to start fresh. Bringing a stranger into their home seemed reckless, especially after all they had been t

My ex's uncle is my husband.

Chapter 18. He Will Always Be There "Let's have lunch, and then I'll head to my work. You should spend some time with your fiancé," she suggested. As they left, they noticed dozens of students, and suddenly, Elizabeth was hit by something that broke on her head, dripping down her forehead. Before she realized what it was, she was bombarded by dozens and dozens of eggs. "That's what a money-grubbing slut deserves!" one of the girls declared as Gaby dragged Elizabeth away from the crowd.

The Billionaire Bargain

The Billionaire Bargain

Elizabeth Stone shuddered. She wrapped her arms around herself and stared out the back window of the sleek black sedan as it wound along the darkened streets of Montreal. People strolled down the block, hands in their pockets, chins neatly tucked to their chests to shield their faces from the biting wind. Men held phones to their ears; women struggled with their shopping bags. It seemed like a regular evening. An ordinary night. But it wasn't ordinary. It couldn't be. Because Elizabeth's world had stopped turning.

The Don's Unwanted Prize

The Don's Unwanted Prize

He had documented every struggle, every moment of hunger, every random stroke of luck Luca had experienced until the moment the Vane Estate became his only option. “It’s beautiful, isn’t it? In a way that makes you want to scrub your skin raw.” I spun around, my back hitting a server rack. Elizabeth was standing in the doorway. Her cadet-blue gown was unzipped at the shoulder, her hair slightly disheveled, her eyes dark and unreadable. She didn’t look surprised to find me there. She looked like she had been waiting for me to arrive. “You knew,” I rasped. “You helped him build this.”

HIS SECRET WIFE

HIS SECRET WIFE

I was in a large t-shirt, my hair combed back. They helped me back in bed where I was tucked in then I had my dinner alone. It was cold and lonely, so lonely I found myself thinking of Elizabeth. She was something and I couldn’t help smiling. She was like a vicious puppy. A woman came to retrieve my dishes and I sat back, deciding to read a book. I wouldn’t betray Elizabeth like that, watching without her. Even if I dared, it wouldn’t be the same. Hours trickled by and I thought she wouldn’t come anymore so I shut my book and shifted back only for the door to open.

Wayne Bodle
awesome book! Brandy's character rocks she is smart funny strong, compassionate loving and vulnerable. One of the best female leads I've read. She has you laughing one minute and wanting to cry the next how she is treated. She deserves only the best. I bet Storm will give her that before it's over.

Boomerang bet

Boomerang bet

After all, all was fair in love and war. Wednesday came by and left in a flash. Thursday moseyed on down and introduced itself with a cold morning breeze. After hopping on the subway, pushing past people and arriving to work in one piece, overseeing the shipment of a fifty boxes of fragile bulbs and going to the warehouse to take stock, all without breakfast, Elizabeth was beat. As she stood by her office window gazing out at the passing cars and listening to the sound of the traffic, she stifled a yawn. In a few hours, she would go home. All she had to do was hang on. Hang on and-- she stifled another abrupt yawn. Hang on and breathe. "Have you had anything to eat today?"

The Unexpected Affair

The Unexpected Affair

My lunchbox swung at my side, ridiculous and conspicuous, filled with food I hadn't prepared and love I didn't know how to receive. My desk was as I'd left it, papers stacked, computer sleeping, the small plant Sophia had given me last month still clinging to life. I set down the lunchbox, touched the note in my pocket, and tried to remember what I was supposed to do here. What any of this meant, now that I knew my career had been a weapon in my mother's hands, now that I knew how close I'd come to losing everything. The phone rang. "Elizabeth? Can you come to Conference Room B? Mr. Chen and Ms. Rodriguez would like to see you."
