After convincing me to go, Ellie dragged me to her room. The moment I stepped inside, I was overwhelmed by its vibrancy. Her space was a kaleidoscope of colors, a stark contrast to the dark, oppressive mansion. It was impossible not to feel at least a tiny bit of happiness here. The room practically radiated with Ellie’s infectious energy, the kind that made you feel like anything was possible, even if just for a little while.

There is banging on the door and I am interrupted by the sound of my mates voice. “Ellie, babe, please open this door. What is going on?” Colin sounds terrified and I just don’t even know what to say to him. I don’t want anyone to get hurt and I’ve already said too much to the girls. I start pacing and biting my nails, trying to figure out what to do. Amber huffs at me and stomps over to the door, unlocking it. Colin pushes past her and runs to me, pulling me close to his chest. The second I am in his arms Leia purrs and I nuzzle into his chest, thankful for the safety and comfort of my mate.

I pee a lot, and smelling and seeing things that are sensitive to my body makes me puke. "Liam, just leave the poor girl alone." Sydney stepped in and pressed those breasts of hers on Liam's arm. We didn’t get that much sleep either, but it was worth it. Raven, Malachi, Raidon, and I are making our way to the southeast border. We want to check it out. Ellie — Later That Day It didn't happen all at once. There was no dramatic moment. No single thought that tipped her over the edge. Ellie had been sitting on the edge of the bed, sunlight spilling through the window in long, lazy streaks, Lucy somewhere in the kitchen on the phone. The house felt too quiet for the middle of the afternoon. Too still. She'd done all the right things. Drank water. Ate toast. Took a shower she'd mostly just stood under, letting the warmth hit her shoulders until her thoughts finally slowed. And then—out of nowhere—her body woke up. Not hunger. Not anxiety. Something lower. Warmer. Restless.

Zack's P.O.V. The room looked exactly like Lilly had described, laced with enough supplies to open a small tailoring shop. I stood at the doorway and slowly surveyed the battlefield. Lilly hadn't exaggerated. Ellie Hunt had spent the last two days turning her bedroom into a workshop. My gaze landed on the woman herself. She sat behind the table surrounded by fabric, a measuring tape hanging around her neck while a pair of scissors rested in her hand. She frowned. “What are you doing here?”

Ellie told him. That afternoon, when it was nearly 6.30 pm, Ellie disappeared. She had only been gone that evening for 50 minutes, but it felt like forever. When she returned, she had a huge smile on her face. “Come with me,” she told me, taking me by the hand. I resisted, worrying about being seen. “Trust me,” Ellie said. So I did.
