“Julian isn’t the ‘Pure’ heir,” I said, turning to him. His face had gone deathly pale, the smirk finally, completely gone. “He’s a high-fidelity biological clone. A ‘Product’ designed by Silas and Beatrice to be the perfect replacement. And like all products, he has a shelf life. He is the one with the ‘Vermon Decay.’ Not my son. Not my baby.”
