I shut my eyes, and my tears fall. . c.m. louden

Weak. Until I can't feel him anymore. Until there's nothing but silence. “My eyes closed shut. Then everything went black.”

He closed his eyes, waiting for the gunshot that would end everything. Boom!

The five of them… closing in. I looked around, but… No escape. My lips trembled. Tears fell uncontrollably. My heart… shattered. So this is how I die… Alone… In the dark… My fingers loosened. The stick slipped from my hand. My body went limp. I didn’t want to struggle anymore. There was no point. Slowly… I closed my eyes. I was waiting… For the pain, for the tearing. For the end. A low growl sounded close to me.

His fingers twitch against the floor, scrabbling for something—control, power, anything. His eyes roll toward them, dark and fading, but still filled with venom. His lips move, sputtering blood with each word. “This… isn’t… the end…” But his voice falters, his breath catching, and slowly—finally—his eyes drift shut. His chest falls and doesn’t rise again. The rooftop falls into silence. The fire in the sky rains down in blackened ash, snowing over the survivors. The sirens below echo upward, mingling with the shouts of police flooding the building.

He stood there, his eyes closed, ready to end it all. And a bright light hit his face. *********************

“Alright. Open your mouth and close your eyes.” I gulped, shutting my eyes.
