Luna’s Rebellion
Rivers of starlight moved, mountains rose and fell in real time, and a single line of gold thread wound through it all, pulsing faintly.
“You’ll need it,” said a voice beside me.
I didn’t turn. I knew it was her again—the older me.
“What is it?” I asked.
“A path,” she said. “One you can’t see with mortal eyes. One only we can walk.”
“I’m not you,” I shot back.
“Not yet,” she said, and I hated the way it made my skin crawl.
She pointed to where the golden thread vanished into a jagged range that looked a lot like the one we were camped in. “Follow it, and you’ll reach the Spire before it reaches you.”
