“No, babe. The one who should have done something good in his life was me. I’m a poor idiot who doesn’t deserve you. You are a 10 and I am a 7.” I laugh at that comment. I dry my tears and tell him, “You know well that you are a 10, Enzo. Even the grandmothers stare at you with their mouths open.” Enzo laughs, making his gray eyes shine with amusement. He ends by saying, “Alright, babe. We’re both a 10. Now, hurry! I’ll wait for you.”

At first glance, there's no one in the room, but as I look around, I catch a glimpse of a hand clutching a glass of whiskey, hidden by the high back of an armchair, and I approach. "Massimo. I was wondering when you were finally going to show up on your own to finish the job of destroying my life." Enzo's voice is low and listless, and as I walk around the edge of his armchair, he lifts the glass to take a healthy swallow. His eyes are already bloodshot when I finally stand in front of him, his skin looking sallow, and it's clear that he's been in this chair for a while.

They all knew him to be charming and easygoing, unlike Sergio. "Good morning, beautiful ladies!" He greeted them in return and they blushed. "I love your eyes!" "Thank you, Sir" One of the maids answered with a bow. She was blushing hard. Enzo was just like Sergio. Handsome with so many tattoos on his body. But people considered him the most handsome because of his warm and bright personality. He was also a playboy who f*cked around with all types of girls. "Oh, look at who we have here!" He laughed as he approached Sergio. "You got up pretty early, brother!"

"Enzo is a soldier. He knew the risks when he signed the contract. He doesn't need you to hold his hand." "Maybe he doesn't need it, but he deserves it," I countered, finally turning to look at him. "Unlike you, he actually seems to remember that we’re people, not just 'tools' in your shed. If you want the medical kit, get it yourself. You have one good arm, don't you?" I snapped at him. Luca’s eyes narrowed. The tension in the van spiked, the air suddenly feeling thin and electric. For a second, I thought he was going to stand up and wrap those large hands around my throat. But then, the small partition window behind his head slid open.

Instead, he muttered to himself again and again, "Where's my cheat ability? Why did it disappear? Why can't I see the future anymore?! What's going on?!" His expression was twisted with madness, like a rabid dog gone out of control. [That skill was a limited-time quirk for the newbie male lead, and it was bound to be retracted after a week.] [Even if he stocked the wrong supplies, he should've at least gotten food too. But this guy stocked only ice?] [Another brain-dead male lead, abandoned by the system.] At that moment, the signal cut off. I shrugged again, before continuing to eat my grilled meat.

when Enzo interrupted. "I never desert those under my care. You know that.” Enzo stated in a firm tone. Luca shook his head again and chuckled. "Enzo, you've softened. You wouldn't have hesitated in the past.” Enzo tightened his jaw but said nothing. Instead, he quickly knocked back another drink that he had poured for himself. With a softer tone, Luca went on, "You're making a mistake. She is not one of us. She will never be.” Enzo's eyes jerked upward. "You think I don’t know that?"

"Good talk, brother.” Alexei just needed a distraction. A challenge, even. It was difficult with the background they came from, always looking for the next thing. Enzo was fulfilled because of his company. But his brother was adrift. Truth be told, he had been somewhat listless himself until Lilith Rumero came along. He just had to find his brother a hobby like this one was turning out to be. Enzo couldn’t hide his grin in the backseat of his car on the way to the office. His driver painstakingly cleaned everything after each ride, and he had decided to leave him something of a present, neatly folded on the console where he usually got his drinks.

Charlotte exclaimed in surprise, "Enzo? How did you end up like this? Do you still recognize me?" Enzo had just taken a suppressant for his aggressive tendencies, and though his emotions were extremely dulled, he still recognized her. Enzo slowly turned his head toward her and said, "Charlotte." Charlotte nodded frantically, then threw herself tearfully into his arms and aired her grievances during this time. "Enzo, please get better soon… Without you by my side, they've all been bullying me."
