Rude Awakenings
A marquise-cut diamond sat in the center, surrounded by tiny diamonds and rubies that glinted and shimmered in the morning sunshine.
“Holy shit, Colton. It’s beautiful.”
Letting out a harsh gust of breath, he ran his fingers through his hair in relief, “Thank fuck. I literally shit my pants the minute the jeweler showed it to me.”
“Why would you do that? It’s beautiful,” she giggled. “Hang on, you had it made?”
“Yeah,” he nodded, scratching the back of his neck self-consciously. “It’s uh… it’s my mom’s ring. Well, the diamonds are from my mom’s engagement ring, and uh… some of the diamonds and the rubies are from one of your grandma’s rings.”
