AUTHOR'S POV 💜 "I am really, really, very happy to work with you, Mr. Evander Servopoulos," the man said while looking at the big screen where the video conference was taking place. On the other side, a man in his 70s sat, his expression a mix of anger and other emotions. "I am also very happy to work with you. I hope you will make me feel that I chose the right person for a great deal, Mr. Damon Anderson," Evander Servopoulos replied, earning a smirk from Damon.

"Do you intend for her to replace your mate, Leah?" "I think the question we should be asking here is, who is your fated mate?" The fifth elder blurted again, his gaze never leaving mine. I recognized him immediately. He was Leah's father, and the only newly elected elder. He was the hot-blooded one amongst the elders. Maybe I'd start with him for my reparations. "Nikolai," he stood from his high exalted chair, as if taunting me. "Who is your fated mate?"

Without thinking twice, she matched towards the second girl who called her a motherless bitch. Just when she was about to slap the girl across her face, a strong masculine hand held hers. “ Let. Me. Go.” Nicki gritted her teeth, her eyes turning bloodshot with tears and anger. “ And if I don't?” A low hoarse voice came. “ Bastard! Let me go!” Nicki struggled out of his hold. “ I won't let you lay your stinking hands on my girlfriend.” The masculine voice came to view. He was looking like a Greek god with full lips, raven black hair, thick brows, chiselled jaw and delicate nose.

They gave each other a nod before Nik recounted what had taken place. He emphasized how my plan had saved all of us. But in retrospect, it was all him. Without Nikolai implementing it and showing just how fearless he was, it would have been useless. His words have both of us laughing so hard that for a moment I forget everything that is going on around us and it feels so good, so needed. "Warrior Robbie. How can I help you?" A strange voice brings my laughter to an immediate stop as a guy comes to stand in front of us. He's incredibly tall and muscular and looks like he could scare even the meanest of wolves. "Yes, Johnathan. Alpha Nicholas is in the gym. He has asked for some privacy but I would like you to guard the door while he's in there. There's too much shit going on right now for him to be left unguarded."

Something about the way he sat there, his profile illuminated by the sunlight, had a fleeting resemblance to Nicholas. Pushing those thoughts away, I forced a smile and walked into the room. "Good afternoon, Evan. How are you feeling today?" Evan didn't respond. His eyes were fixed on the horizon, completely ignoring my presence, something I had gotten used to from working with Nicholas. I sighed and picked up his chart from a nearby table. "It's time for your exercises. They’ll help you a lot, you know." Finally turning to look at me, his eyes were filled with an unmistakable hatred. "What's the fucking point? Nothing you do will make me better. My life is over."

I need to gather myself and start my project next week. ************ Author's pov It was evening, and Evans was at home, still engrossed with his laptop in the living room. He worked as an assistant manager in an insurance company and was a close friend of Kenneth. They had known each other for many years. Evans, a tall man with a fit physique, had his eyes fixed on the laptop screen when he heard a knock on his front door. He lifted his face and glanced at the door, not expecting anyone other than Kenneth, who occasionally dropped by on his way back from work. Hoping it was Kenneth, Evans casually said,

He clenched his fists so tightly his knuckles turned white. “The only thing keeping me from snapping your neck right now,” he growled, his voice dangerously low, “is my will not to upset Eva more than she already is.” “Oh?” Nuela arched an eyebrow, delight dancing in her eyes. “So Eva really did walk away, didn’t she?
