she pressed. I took a deep breath, a blush creeping up my cheeks. This wasn't just any story; it felt like the beginning of something special, and I wanted to savour every detail. "Well," I began, pausing for dramatic effect, "it all started with a wrong turn..." A collective gasp from my friends sent chills of excitement down my spine. Leaning in closer, I launched into the story, weaving a tale of a chance encounter, an unexpected connection, and a spark that ignited something beautiful in my life.

Six months is no time at all. "I'm gonna-Aaaaaa!" -Whatever words I was going for dissolve in an instinctive scream, as my feet slip on the damp earth, and I scramble for purchase, fall forward, crashing into moldy wood and through it. Right into the well. …

I am a lone wolf, that means that I follow no one, and until we form a pack I don’t have to listen to you either.” As soon as those words escaped my mouth I instantly wished that it hadn’t. "…green…" It was the first word spoken on this world in centuries. The moment the word left the child's lips, the Loom of Stories flared. The thread of potential blazed with light, and Sela felt a rush of new stories, not from her, but from the world itself. The ghosts of stories, waiting for a spark.

Their laughter drifted down the street. She suddenly collapsed onto the ground and cried until she had no strength left. … In the early hours of the morning, a plane bound for the south slowly took off. Xena sat by the window and looked at the dark city below. She let out a soft sigh. The chains that had bound her for sixty years were finally gone. In this life, she would live only for herself.

Amber Six years later…. How do you coax a six-year-old with the gentility of a twenty-year-old mule to sleep? First, tell him a story about his favourite hero. “... and then the silver wolf crushed the iron gates in his thunderous might!” Anticipation swirled fiercely in those ember eyes. “And…?” I bellowed, “And he swept the princess off the cold, wet ground!” A triumphant fist to my chest, I mimicked a deep, gallant voice, “‘Fear not, Princess Violet!’ The knight promised. ‘No harm shall befall you and our baby!’”
