Maybe the guy had mistaken her as someone, probably from the other room. She let herself relax and let Hypnos' straddle her into oblivion. Clayton is stunned when he met her eye to eye as soon as he entered her room in Doctor Jones' clinic. Her eyes looked sleepy when he saw them but he is sure as hell that she saw him. Her blue orbs looked as if she's trying to recognize him. His heart leaped for a few seconds worried that she might remember him as the guy who maniacally lapped her bloody throat.

The creature’s shriek was a jagged blade against my eardrums. It was a Hound of the Void—a nightmare of grey flesh and elongated limbs that shouldn't exist in a world of fur and bone. As it lunged through the shattered window, time seemed to slow down. “Don’t pull back, Elara,” Malachi’s voice echoed in my mind, steady and cold. “The Earth doesn't flinch. Neither do you.” I felt his power surge through the Blood Pact, a river of dark ink flowing into my veins to meet my violet fire. I didn't step away. I stepped in.

Drool fell from his teeth. I backed away, my heels slipped on the stone. He was going to kill Void. Then Void laughed. The sound was low and wrong, like something speaking from inside his throat. His head slowly lifted. Black shadows began crawling beneath his skin, thicker now, faster. “No,” Hessa whispered. Void’s wounds closed. The torn flesh across his chest sealed itself as if invisible hands were pulling it together, stitching muscle and skin back with shadow. The darkness around him thickened. It spread across the floor like oil. Something moved behind his eyes.

“Bow before your Queen.” My blood froze. The soldiers lowered their heads. One by one. Kael didn't. The captain smiled. “The Void has chosen.” I backed away. “No.” The darkness inside me surged. The palace shook. The three black stars returned to the sky. But something had changed. They weren't stars anymore. They were eyes. Three enormous eyes staring down at the kingdom. Then a fourth eye opened. Inside the moon. Kael looked up. “What is that?” A voice answered.

Suddenly, the heavy marble doors behind us slammed shut with a deafening thunder! BOOM! Thick, unnatural shadows swirled out from the corners of the ceiling, pooling together above the altar to form a towering, hooded figure made of pure void magic. High above its dark, face-like robe, two burning red eyes locked directly onto baby Aurora. "You are too late, little wolves," the void figure hissed, its hollow voice echoing through the chamber like grinding stone. "The anvil requires a divine spark to ignite... and to ignite it, one of your celestial souls must be sacrificed!"

She asked, but her voice was frighteningly calm. I gulped. "I got tired of using it, Your Majesty. I want to see the world with my eyes, while I still…" I need to be quiet. Four pairs of eyes were neatly aligned—two closed, two open. One of the open, eerie green eyes fixed on him with an unrelenting stare. “A Hunter Dragon Spider!” Logo’s heart skipped a beat. He instantly recognized the notorious predator of the Void Sea—a monstrous void hunter that fed on void dragons. In his previous life, he had narrowly escaped a full-grown Hunter Dragon Spider.
