I glance toward the towering flames dancing against the night sky. “…Offered?” “It’s symbolic,” Seyla says. “A promise to yourself. You’re acknowledging the fear that’s followed you here… and choosing not to let it define the person you’ll become.” I let her words settle. “And what if I don’t want to share my deepest fear with a few hundred strangers?” “You don’t have to tell a story,” Lyra says softly. “Just the fear.” “One sentence,” Rowan adds. “Most people keep it short.”

With a surge of courage and determination, she pushed back against the mist, fighting to maintain her footing. The man laughed, his eyes glinting with amusement. "You're brave, I'll give you that," he said. "But bravery isn't enough. You need to face your fears head-on, to confront the darkest corners of your own heart." Maya nodded, her heart pounding with fear. She knew that the man was right. She needed to face her fears, to confront the doubts and uncertainties that had held her back for so long. With a deep breath, she stepped forward, into the heart of the mist. The man followed her, his eyes glinting with a malevolent light.

I said after a long silence, my voice thoughtful, “I’ve spent so much time running away from everything. From the pain, from the past, from the future. I’m scared, Stefan. I’m scared of failing. But I’m also scared of not trying.” He turned to me, his expression unreadable in the dim light. But there was something there—something soft, something understanding. “It’s okay to be scared,” he said softly. “But it’s not the fear that defines us. It’s how we face it. And you’re stronger than you think.” I closed my eyes, letting his words settle over me like a soft blanket. I didn’t know what the future held, but for the first time, I wasn’t afraid to face it.

“You’re terrified of what you feel, aren’t you?” I opened my mouth to respond, to snap back with something cutting, but the intensity of his gaze stole the words from my throat. “You’re wrong,” I finally managed, my voice shaking. “I’m not afraid of anything.” “Prove it.” “What?” “Prove it,” he said again, stepping even closer. His eyes flickered, and for a moment, I thought I saw his wolf surfacing. “If you’re not afraid, then stop running and face this. Face me.”

Build something beautiful. I decided to put my fears aside and give this a try, to give my full heart and enjoy the moment. This time, I don’t want my fears to make me lose opportunities. I don’t want them to hold me back from doing what I truly want. I want to try and overcome my fears.

I was tired of it. Maybe I’d get it wrong. Maybe I’d fall apart again. Maybe I’d mess something up and have to start all over. But maybe I wouldn’t. And even if I did—maybe it wouldn’t destroy me this time. Maybe this time, I could face it instead of running. Maybe I could stay. I didn't know how good of a mother I'd be or if I'd even be good. I wasn't even sure I was ready but I won't pretend I wasn't scared. I'll face my fears one step at a time.

"Because the only thing standing between us and destruction is us!" I turned now, pacing around the platform slowly, taking stretched steps with my hands behind my back, like an army general new on the bloom. "The lives of the women and children of this pack lies in the hands of each and every one of you...each and every one of us..." I exhorted. "And I want you to accept the fear that's building inside you; see it, feel it, don't push it away.” I repeated. “You're all mortals like I am. It's normal to be afraid. But don't let your fear win, don't heed that fear.”

This hasn't facilitated anything for me. He returns a couple of minutes later. At first, I feel like I'll never look up, like I've lost the ability to look. I can't bring myself to see what's standing in front of me. Rather, who. But this can't go on. Sooner or later, I'll have to face my fears.

He just moved aside, creating space on the rug, and gestured to the heat. "The fear doesn't leave you," he said, his voice low, as if he had been expecting the visitation. "It just changes shape. In the city, it’s the fear of failure. Out here, it’s the fear of insignificance." "How do you fight it?" I asked, curling my arms around my knees. "You don't fight it," he said. "You acknowledge it. You admit that you are, in the grand scheme of the forest, completely insignificant. And you realize that that is the most beautiful thing about you."

My body quivers as I walk to the door and open it and I'm face to face with him. I can't seem to hide the fear and horror on my face. And I'm just realizing that I've been messing with a man that ease fully drove a hammer into someone's head some weeks ago, I'm talking to someone that is feared by the entire continent. His name sparks fear into people and I've been messing with him What honestly gives me the feeling that he wouldn't snap one day and end me once and for all. I sees the fear in my face, he sees it all.
