Edward gave her. It was getting harder to ignore the way she felt around him. At first, she thought it was just because he was older and serious and different from anyone she’d ever met. But now, she wasn’t so sure. Sometimes when they were in the same room, she felt warm all over. Her heart beat faster, and her hands got sweaty for no reason. And then there were moments when he seemed to be watching her too. She picked up one of the books and wiped the dust off the cover. Her fingers lingered on the title. She didn’t understand the words, but she liked the way the cover felt—smooth and old.

"You're here, aren't you? What's going to happen to me?" Leo stepped closer to him, cornering Archer against the table. As he lowered his eyes, meeting Archer's gentle, smiling gaze, Leo felt the burning feeling in his chest intensify. However, he refused to lose to Archer. So, he took the wine glass and finished everything, spiked wine and all, with Archer's eyes on him. "Something terrible's about to happen," Leo said. "Aren't you going to run, Archie?"
