I remained silent at the front, with my gun raised and ready the whole time. The emergency lights in the research lab flickered on and off, and the air stank of blood and decay. Distant growls of the zombies rumbled through the halls. We were about to reach the exit when a familiar wail cut through the darkness. "Help… Please, help me!" I took a closer look and saw Esmeralda pinned against a wall by three zombies, their teeth sinking into her. Her right arm had been ripped off, blood gushing like a fountain.

"So you were reborn too! That's why…" For a moment, confusion crossed her face. "But you're just a commoner. How could you possibly stop the zombies?" In my past life, I had fought zombies in the field and spent every spare moment helping in the lab. I had never stopped learning. I had been part of creating the zombie cure, so I knew how to make it. I kicked her aside. "Reborn or not, you're still just as stupid." A sudden, deafening bang ripped through the air, and what came next happened in an instant, catching everyone completely off guard.

My bad habit was curling my toes when I was anxious. Why? I didn't move again. I stayed still. Maybe they would go away. I was done. There was no way now. "She looks dead though." It was another soldier. "Who could survive after falling from that height?" I wanted to give a thumbs up to that soldier. "What if it's an undead?" The first soldier asked with a trembling voice. "The undead city isn't far from here." Undead city? There was no such mention in the novel. Then again, the novel focussed too much on the female lead's love life.

“They don’t exist.” She chuckled. “You have weirder imagination, Percie.” I stood up. “You have no idea. That woman here before, I think of her as a zombie with a horn and fangs. She has no brains, but she whispers to everyone and takes them to her lair, then eats their brains, skins them, then drains their blood, and throws them afterward.” She giggled. Did she just giggle? ”You’re gonna be a good writer, Percie.”

Her perky tits bounce slightly under her T-shirt, and I need to turn around and stop looking for my own good. “Want to play zombies after breakfast?” Jackson asks Scarlet. “Today’s Scarlet’s day off,” I remind him gently. “She’s here but not really here.” Jackson tips his head. “Huh?” Scarlet laughs. “It’s okay. I don’t really have any plans other than showering and reading a chapter or two from my book.” “Are there zombies in your book?” Jackson’s eyes widen. “Actually, yes.” Scarlet fills her plate and joins us at the table. “It’s a romance set in the zombie apocalypse. It’s really good.”

Screams tore through the B2 level. Martha and I bolted for the stairs. Marcus stumbled behind. The smell of blood hit us like a wall. In the makeshift chapel, Sister Catherine was on her knees before the cross. A bloody hole gaped in her neck. A zombie was hunched over her, greedily tearing at her flesh. It had crawled in through an air vent. “Oh God…” Marcus retched. I grabbed a nearby iron chalice and slammed it into the zombie’s head.

Darren had never in his life seen anything this unsettling. He was shaking like a leaf. "Maybe we should… head back now, Dr. York?" he suggested. He didn't want to stick around any longer. He was genuinely afraid Roy would suddenly turn around and kill them. After all, a zombie couldn't think. "What's the matter? Are you that scared of a single zombie?" Fiona said, her expression scornful. "You're not scared?" Darren shot back. "I'm not." Fiona linked arms with Cassian. "Dr. York will keep me safe. Right, Dr. York?"

I struggled very hard to get attached to Jenny and imagined how an underworld could be before I met myself in that blazing world. "What the f*ck is this..?" I hissed as the spooky place startled me. It was nothing compared to what I imagined, it was even worse. That mood of the night and tragic darkness was the first thing I met. I pressed my arms against me to embrace myself. The hotness wasn't something I could resist even as a non-ordinary vampire. I wished I could leave when I heard the mourning souls as they cry for help. The portal that alighted me was just by my rear but I couldn't leave Jenny and Alex behind.

“I know. I do trust you on some level, Ryan. I do want answers. Why did you hunt me down and bring me here?” “One, I told you I’d come back for you. I meant that. I also meant it when I said you are the only girl I want. Two, I need you to have kids. Female zombies can’t have children. They can get pregnant, but they can’t keep the pregnancy. The fetus is human because that’s how all zombies start out. The female zombies bodies attack the human fetus.” “So, zombies need human females to have kids?” “Yes. I need heirs, and I want you to be the mother of my kids. We can raise them together and be a couple.”

Seeing that scenes, Zhi Yin cannot help but sigh. Zombies are very different from humans. They don’t know the word fear. They aren’t afraid even if their companions are being killed as they continue to chase their target. They don’t need to rest, feed on flesh and blood, and even if they are injured, they can slowly recover their broken body with their own powerful repairing skills.
