I looked down at our bare bodies, at the messy sheets that still smelled like our desperate lovemaking, and forced a cruel, careless shrug. ​"But don't worry about this," I said, gesturing casually between the two of us. "We can still continue. We can still go on just like this. So what if I marry Clara? So what if she bears the Luna title and bears my children?" ​I leaned back, delivering the final, fatal blow with a voice as cold as ice. "You can still be my concubine." ​Rebecca’s eyes widened, a horrifying mix of shock and anger flashing through them. "What did you just say?" she spat, the words catching in her throat as if she couldn't believe the awful things coming out of my mouth.

Carol said, and she nodded her head. "What is that your name again? Jessica?" She scoffed as she smirked at Carol. She was supposed to act the scene where she met her husband's concubine in the hotel room. Her husband was supposed to meet with the concubine, but she was fast to be there before him because she found out earlier.

I can sense it must be some kind of message to me or maybe it wants to show me something and I can feel it is not a good thing. While running silently like a small mouse, hiding through the shadows of the walls, barefooted, and only in my sleeping gown and a robe, I made sure no one could see me going up the stairs and in front of the huge door of the library which made me frown because it was slightly open. Is there someone inside during this kind of hour? Aside from Marian and her obsession with books about the study of animals, no one among the concubines other than me goes to the library or even is fond of reading a book. Maybe one of the councilmen?

The guard gestured for them to take a seat and disappeared through a door at the back of the room. Liam and Penelope sat in silence for several minutes, their nerves getting the better of them. Finally, the door at the back of the room opened, and the guard emerged with the physician who he left with. "Please go in," he said, gesturing for them to follow him into the room. Inside, they found the old, yet stately woman sitting in a large, cushioned chair. Her eyes were sharp and piercing, and her demeanour commanded respect. "Welcome," she said, in a voice that was surprisingly strong. "I am Fiona, and I understand that you seek my advice."

The only thing that saved me from her wrath was my quick marriage to James. The moment she saw his last name, golden dollar signs reflected in her hazel eyes. I shake the thoughts from my head, forcing my way into their bedroom. The canopy bed sits against the far wall, adorned with sheer curtains that skillfully wrap around each of the posts. Walking slowly, my heart pounds with every step. I know they’re already on the private jet on their way to Italy to rejoin a few of their rich friends on a yacht in the Ionian Sea. So why do I feel the nagging feeling of being watched?

It was a pair of dancing shoes with smooth lines and sequins dotted on both sides, combined to form a marvelous floral pattern. Cindy saw the shoes too, and her eyes immediately lit up. She instructed the salesperson to bring the shoes over. After putting them on, Cindy twirled around in front of the mirror a few times and said excitedly, “Look, Mom! These shoes go perfectly with the ball gown you gave me for my birthday.” Sophia smiled and gently gazed at Cindy, who was twirling in front of the mirror.

I smirked, winking at her, and the room seemed to hold its collective breath. "I have decided to take another concubine," I announced, my voice dripping with nonchalance. "I have chosen Emmeline Gray as my new concubine." The hall was plunged into silence, the stillness so profound that even the faintest sound would have been deafening. Colima shot up from her seat, her eyes blazing with anger as she threw me a scathing glare before storming out of the hall. The servants remained frozen, their faces impassive, but their eyes spoke volumes – they seemed to bore into Emmeline's very soul with murderous intent.
