“I've answered the question with the ghouls so what else do you want to know.” “You still owe me an explanation that.” Catalina said as a matter of fact. “Very well then. Charles what is your question?” Fate looked at me, from above us, scrolls were sorting themselves out and selecting a few. The chosen ones floated down to the table and arranged itself. Catalina stared with wide eyes. “Why did you create her? Can her fate not be changed? Is there something she can do to save the world if her fate can't be changed?” Fate’s eye shifted from Catalina to I then back to Catalina. “I will take her first so she won't be grumpy and ruin her pretty face.”

Fate is known for lacking a mate, with everyone having equal doubt of him ever finding one, so this is a surprise to me. “Take me back, right now. I want you out of my life,” I say quickly, grabbing at his wrist, demanding he uses his powers to take me back to my mate. It’s dawned on me suddenly that if he figures out that I’m close to attaining powers similar to Thought, I would never get out of here. Fate pulls me closer. “Only if you promise to never speak to Thought of this. If other immortals found out…it would be bad, for us both.”

"Who're you?" Fate looked at the stranger suspiciously. She is in no mood to talk to strangers or flirt for the matter, not that she willingly did in her life. Which is why she never had a boyfriend before. As Rhine puts it, she can't help acting like a bitch in front of others outside work. "It's Williams. Kurt Williams." Kurt smiled charmingly and even tried to offer his hand for a shake, but took it back when Fate just looked at it blankly seemingly unaffected by his charms and didn't look like she had any intention of taking it.

Vanessa lunged at me and tackled me to the ground. She straddled me and looked down at me, her eyes glowing dark red, almost black, with a look of pure hatred painted on her face. It was in that moment that I realized my sweet, innocent Vanessa really was gone, replaced by a monster made of twisted ideals, raw emotion, and an indomitable will to destroy humanity as we know it. She no longer saw me as her mother, but rather as an obstacle in the way of her achieving her goal.
