The spirit within it pulsed faintly, as if sensing the battle ahead.
Hours passed, and the land grew twisted and barren. The trees became gnarled, their branches curling like skeletal fingers. The sky darkened, the air thick with an unnatural stillness.
Then, finally, we saw it.
The Pheonix.
A vast clearing, shrouded in mist, with an ancient altar at its center. Shadows slithered along the ground, whispering with unseen voices.
“He’s here,” I murmured.
