"Anna!" Logan's voice echoed in her mind. "Don’t let it control you. Remember, the game is about facing your fears!" Anna froze for a moment. Her fear was growing, but then she realized—this wasn’t just about the monsters. This was about confronting her own darkest thoughts, her deepest insecurities.

I feel Felix’s arms tighten around me before he yells over the roaring engine. “We have company!!!” he shouts, fear emitting from his voice. I look at my side mirror and am baffled at what I see. Leonidas is sprinting towards us – my heart leaps from my chest, and fear washes over me. His eyes are glowing a dangerous crimson color, his fangs extended, claws digging into his palms. I feel every step he takes, as it feels like the very earth is shaking. His muscles ripple as his feet hit the ground – my heart thumping from fear, yet I can’t help but acknowledge the thrill and excitement it started in me. I watch as his figure closes in on us through the side review mirror.

But, I want to know why he didn’t tell me right away and this makes me hurt more. I gave Yuichi full trust and love but why did he do this to me? Why did he return to me like this? “I was afraid.” “Afraid of what?” The anger I felt towards Yuichi poured out. It’s puzzling how fear can grip him despite his beastly nature. “Tell me. Where did you get scared of!? What are you afraid of and why didn’t you tell me everything!?” Tears formed in both my eyes, not because of fear or sadness or joy, but because of the anger I feel towards the person in front of me. I am not mad, I am more furious with this person.

LIAM’S POV I felt fear, true paralyzing fear, as I saw Anika just lying there surrounded by those bastards. They were touching her. Their filthy hands were all over her. For one horrifying second, everything inside me went completely still. The world narrowed until there was nothing left except Anika on the cold concrete, her blouse torn, tears streaking down her face, her body trembling like a leaf caught in a storm. And those two animals looming over her. Something inside me snapped.

~ Kael’s POV ~ Fear truly is a cold thing, I have experienced that several times in my life, but this was the most I had ever been afraid. I had spent my life believing I had burned it out of my system in the trenches of the borderlands, but as Risa took her first step into the silver vortex, I realized I had only been numb. Seeing her so fragile in that silk, yet so terrifyingly resolute made my heart feel like it was being gripped by a frost-giant.

Her heart pounded painfully against her ribs. It wasn't herself she feared for… It was her parents. There were simply too many of them. Her trembling fingers tightened around the edge of Anana's cloak before she gave it a small, hesitant tug. "...Mother..." Her voice was barely more than a whisper. "...I'm scared." Without ever taking her eyes off the enemies surrounding them... Anana reached back and found her daughter's trembling hand. She gave it a gentle, reassuring squeeze. "You don't have to be." Her voice was quiet, calm, and unwavering.

“Can I kill you, Daniela!” Immediately covering her right eye as she felt something lunges a stick unto it together as those words echoed back to her mind with the face that hunts the fear inside her. Yet, not the same kind of fear that could torment an ordinary human, but a scared fear of losing someone. With her purple light-colored eyes deepens into its hue and marking the anger and conviction of her to protect those she holds dear. The image of the person who wanted her death paints the worry and fear into her as she whispers.

My limbs look longer as I advance towards Heather. She screams before she turns, abandoning her friend as she runs for dear life. “That’s not even what happened.” I whisper, fear making me feel nauseous. What the fuck is going on? The room returns to normal and Heather runs to her mother, sobbing hysterically. “Fuck, even I’d be scared of that, but that wasn’t me.” I say clearly. “Visions can be distorted by fear. We see things differently,” Janaina says. “But your mind will hold the answers, will they not? You fought the unseen beast.”

As I closed the distance, the acrid stench of fear suddenly hit my nose. Why is he so scared? I tried to think, but my Lycan was too fascinated with the small pup we were currently staking out. The beast let out a low, vibrating growl of interest, which quickly melted into a soft, confused whine when it saw the pup trembling. Then, the pup fell to his knees in the dirt, looking utterly defeated, before he forced himself back up to leave the clearing. The Lycan did not like that movement at all. He didn’t want the pup to leave his sight. Against my will, my powerful Lycan legs compressed, and the white beast jumped straight out of the bushes at the fleeing pup.

A low growl can be heard in the desolate dungeon. Anna feels goosebumps up her arms and neck, the sound of making her freeze. Even though she is trained, there is something about the growls which is scaring her. It is as if her muscles have gone numb, her brain warped in a twisted fear which cannot be shaken off. Her heart is beating fast, almost bursting out of her chest. “Anna, this is bad,” Thena whispers in her head. “I cannot shift!”
