His heartbeat quickened violently. “Zara?” No answer. Rain intensified outside. Arman climbed the staircase slowly. Another creak echoed from the end of the hallway near Zara’s bedroom. Then silence. The door stood slightly open. A thin line of darkness stretched across the floor. Arman pushed it open carefully. Zara slept curled beneath her blanket. Alone. Relief nearly collapsed his knees. Then lightning flashed outside. And for one horrifying second - Arman thought he saw someone standing beyond the trees near the edge of the forest.

He was lying face down, and face up, all at once. I live in that house now. I am the village "fixer." And every night, I listen to the scratching beneath the floorboards. I don't fear the ones that crawl. I fear the ones that wait. Because now I know that the most terrifying thing in the world isn't death—it’s a corpse that refuses to close its eyes.

DAYA POV The last 12 hours have been indescribable. I lie. I can describe it all, but I will only make myself blush by replaying it in my head. I have never felt so connected to another person. I don’t regret spending the night…and parts of the morning, with Darius. I still get small shocks of tingles and sparks up my body when I think about him. The full moon is the day after tomorrow and I still don’t know what I want to do. I know I want Darius, but the fear of the plague has me hesitant to accept the actual mate bond. Darius and I spoke about it between our bouts in his bedroom and letting our wolves run together.

He walked quickly wanting to be home, safe and cozy before his parents noticed he was gone. As he had sneaked out of the house hours back to hang out with his college friends at a frat party. He heard a noise behind him.

And in its place is only terror - a bone-deep, soul-shaking terror that threatens to consume me entirely. I remain there, huddled in the corner, my sanity hanging by a thread. The Feral Alpha's blue eyes continue to haunt me, that moment of connection replaying over and over. And with each repetition, I feel myself slipping further into the abyss of fear and madness. I told him once the call was connected, and I hung up without waiting for his answer. I went to my study and waited for Colton and Lucas there. “Aleena..” I tried mindlinking her again, even though I knew it would be useless. How could I fall for such a cheap trick of diversion? Fuck, fuck, fuck! “I’m going to tear his limbs away the moment I lay my eyes on him,” Night growled. He was as furious, anxious, and worried as I was. Never had I felt so much fear for someone’s safety in my life or felt like a failure.

“I get it, Night. Believe me, I do. But… doesn’t it make you sick, too? Living in fear of him, of what he’ll do? Constantly looking over your shoulders for his next move like we’re stuck in some kind of 80’s horror show that never ends. Don’t you want to stop running? Don’t you want to be with me just as much as I want to be with you?” Night closed his eyes, as if to gather his thoughts. I could see the way his breathing was escalated, perspiration beading his forehead. He was nervous, scared even, but the way his fists were balled at his side told me he was trying his best to compose himself. “I want to Kai…fuck…I can’t! You know I can’t!”

[Faye] I know it might sound strange, I still am and have always been a little afraid of the dark. Actually no, that’s not quite accurate. Terrified would be the appropriate word. Terrified of the dark. I know all little kids fear the dark a little bit at some point, but the terror I feel go beyond the regular childhood fears of monsters under the bed or in the closet. I don’t fear being in the dark. I have an honest fear of the darkness itself. When I stare out into a complete deep shadow, it doesn’t feel empty, it feels overwhelmingly full.

Furniture were in really a bad shape as if someone faught a third world war before leaving this place. Her heart was pounding at a rate she thought was nearly impossible for any normal human. She craned her neck upward, afraid of encountering anything dangerous, after hearing someone laugh evilly. But what she saw there was enough to take her breath away. It was more dangerous than any danger in her life currently. There he was, her NIGHTMARE, smirking at her. As if mocking her. After all she entered his den without even him trying anything. And the next moment he threw a dagger in her direction and her breath hitched. She woke up gasping for air, again, like every other day now.

I played the movie and leaned back on the couch. The movie didn't even play for a whole ten minutes, there was a guy pounding on a girl. I closed my eyes in embarrassment and peeked at Nick. He was looking seriously. I turned to the screen and continued watching the movie. When will this scene get over? "Is every horror movie like this?" Did he think of me as a pervert? "No. No. Only some." "Okay. Why are you getting nervous?" "Nothing. Can I change to something else?"
