The Replacement Wife
Chen pressed on her.
"I'm sorry," Felicity starts.
"For what specifically?"
"For running. For leaving you to clean all of this up. The wedding, Mum, all of it. I just couldn't and I left and you stayed and you fixed everything."
I look at my sister. The exhaustion in her face, the dark circles, the way she holds the mug with both hands like it's keeping her anchored.
"Best thing you ever did for me," I say.
She blinks.
I tell her. All of it. The real marriage, the library, the investigation, the warehouse, Eleanor. Dominic. She listens without speaking, which is the most still I have ever seen Felicity, and by the end her eyes are wet again.
