The Perfect Wife Walked Away
When we reached Alice’s suite, Camilla burst inside and ran over to her mother’s bed.
“Mummy!” she cried. She half climbed up onto the bed.
Alice pulled her all way the up and gave her a big hug, around the bulk of her belly.
“Hello, sweetheart. I’ve missed you,” Alice said. I could tell she was holding back tears.
“Look, Mum. I’ve drawn you a picture,” said Camilla as she struggled to take her school bag off her shoulders.
When she wrestled the bag around to the front, she unzipped it and triumphantly pulled out a rather rumpled looking piece of paper.
