“Finn,” I interrupted, opening the door a crack. “You don’t need to thank me. Anyone would have done the same thing.”
His face lit up like I’d just granted him his dearest wish. He was bigger than me, with messy auburn hair and freckles scattered across his nose. There was something endearingly earnest about him that made it impossible to be annoyed.
“No, they wouldn’t have,” he said seriously. “Most people would have run away. But you stayed and pulled me off from the fire, even though you were scared. That was really brave.”
