They could better control the outcome out here in no-man's land on the outskirts of town. Suddenly, we are attacked. They shot out our tires and threw a bomb under our car. Our sedan was on fire. Sending our vehicle flying in the air, then causing it to do flips and roll down a hill.

"Who fired the gate?" A second explosion ripped through the western barracks, followed by the terrifying, unmistakable sound of a full pack hunting in unison. It was not a disciplined military assault. It was an extermination. The roars were raw, savage and filled with a murderous fury that made the very air vibrate. The rescue team had arrived. Relief hit me so hard my vision blurred, washing away the terror and the pain in my bruised skull. Dante. Damien. Kendrick. They had not waited for council treaties. The remaining warriors, Tay and I, sprang into action, our movements fueled by grief and rage. I summoned my fire, the flames dancing around my hands and lightning raining down from the sky as I fought off the attackers. Tay shifted into his wolf form, his powerful body a blur of motion, tearing through the rogues.

Dearon moved to the front, his eyes scanning the village. “It's not just the fire. They were attacked.” A low, lethal growl laced his voice. “And those fuckers are still down there.”

Now it roared awake, and hungry. They reached the ridge, and the land below them was on fire. The village, a simple cluster of cottages and trading posts nestled between the trees, was being consumed. Roofs collapsed inward, sparks leaping toward the treetops. Wolves scattered in every direction… mothers clutching pups, elders coughing through the smoke. And beyond the flames, half-shrouded in morning mist, Silver Fang banners rippled in retreat. “Cowards,” Ryder growled, his voice shaking with fury. His golden eyes burned as he watched their enemies melt into the forest shadows. “They strike and run.”

he said, his voice sharp, breaking the tension. "We don't rebuild," replied Emereah. "We bring all our friends, all our power. The First Fire arrives, and this time… it will attempt to incinerate everything.". Vera's eyes swept the grounds, settling at last on the Elders. Raiden's pov I let out a howl as we burst through the final line of the forest. The house was consumed by flames, black smoke rising to the sky and painting the night air with the stench of smoke and burnt flesh. There are a lot of the pack members surrounding the burning structure, mom and dad, Lester.....Damon. Everyone tries to help the firefighters who were part of the pack as well. But the flames seemed angry, relentless to eat the structure alive.

Our homes were crumbling quickly, anbd acrid white smoke was rising up to the skies and causingn people to cough and choke, making breathing hard. Nobody was getting lost on my watch, and I glued myself to the little kids, confident in the ability of everyone else to find their way out of the mess that was now the pack. In the corners of my mind, I prayed to the moon goddess. Hopfeully, she had given soeone enough common sense to enlist the help of our ally packs to help us put out the fire before we lost anything. Dan’s pack alone would be more than enough to help us out of this crisis, but at the moment I had greater worries. The attack was definitely from one of the packs we had fought in
