A full moon was glowing above Kyle, making the trees that lined Vivian’s suburban street look like skeleton silhouettes. He licked the dried blood off his lips, savoring his delicious kill, recalling Vivian’s expression of fear and terror. It sustained him. She would, he resolved, be the first of many, the first victim in the vampire army he was about to build. The high school. That would be next. I can't stop thinking about it and push myself out of bed, going to the kitchen and grabbing the book. I settle back in bed, cracking the spine and pulling out my bookmark. I start to read and my eyes begin to grow heavy. The next thing I know, my alarm is blaring and the book is laying next to me, open to the page I fell asleep reading at. I shove the bookmark in, setting the book on my bedside table before getting up and stretching. Basil does the same, making that cute whining sound he does when he yawns.

She placed hers in it, a little surprised at the coldness meeting her skin. "You are grieving. Your heart has been broken by the vampire," the Goddess' voice sounded ominous and powerful, suddenly coming from all around her. Diana's breath hitched in her throat. The Goddess wrapped her hand around hers, her sharp and black nails quickly sinking into Diana's skin like tiny blades, drawing blood. Diana let out a pained mewl, eyes widening with alarm.

Even without the meteor shower, that night would have been fun. I felt a lot of things that I hadn't felt in a very long time. Things that I didn't even realize that I missed. And some things that I probably would be better off if I ignored. Of course, I had read about vampire history when I was in school, but none of them were from a vampiric author. Which really made a difference.
