Five Worlds Book Novels & Stories

After that I walked into the lecture hall about ten minutes late for classes. Instead of the calm I expected to see, the entire hall was louder than normal. The professor hadn't arrived yet. The girls were clustered in groups and whispering fast with soft giggles. Guys leaned over desks with their phones out, showing each other something. “Did you see him yet?” one girl asked her friend. “They say he’s from the UK." Her friend squealed a reply. "He's so hot. And I heard he wrote like three books on advanced dynamics.”

I stood before it for a moment with my hands at my sides, looking at the dark, worn cover, the spine that had no title, the pages whose edges had a faint luminescence that might have been age or might have been something else entirely. Then I picked it up. The world ended. That is the only way I can describe it, not darkness, not pain, not a simple sensation, but the total and violent ending of the world I had been standing in one moment before and my simultaneous arrival in every other world that had ever been or could have been. Images. Thousands of them. Tens of thousands. Wars I had no name for, fought by people whose faces I’d never seen, on landscapes that didn’t match any geography I

Even the pungent stench of decay had crowned the day with a lingering nauseating grace, travelling the skies like an entourage of heavy soot. Buildings were left in ruins. Wailing and screams, chattering metal armours, and the resounding explosions of canons echoed in a flowing stream of rings. The World was in ruin; one would mistake it to be the end of the World. The War between the Ultiar gods: Ekron god of discord and darkness, and Vyorn goddess of Nature, had gone on for centuries. The mid 7000BC to 2000BC, felt the kind caresses of the sword and heavy form of magic.

The Third Heir raised its hand. Their powers connected. The First World began changing. The golden sky returned. The rivers became calm. The cracks closed. But the Void did not disappear. Instead, it formed a doorway. A doorway unlike any Aria had ever seen. The First Queen stared at it. “It worked.” Aria looked at her. “What did we do?” The Queen smiled. “You created a fourth world.” Aria's eyes widened. “A fourth world?” “A world where no ancient bloodline rules.” Kael looked toward the doorway.

Their world was being pulled toward him. The floor beneath them began disappearing. Not breaking. Not collapsing. Disappearing. The white ground became transparent. Beyond it was an endless darkness. And within that darkness were countless worlds. Millions. Billions. Each one contained a different Evelyn. Different Lucians. Different Elis. Different versions of Kael. Different lives. Different deaths. Evelyn stared. "How many worlds?" Kael whispered, "All of them." The father spoke. "Every world you created." Evelyn's heart sank.

It'd last me quite a few days. With a wretched life like mine, I'd just do whatever I could. Night fell, and snowflakes drifted from the sky. I squatted under a dim streetlamp, wrapping myself tightly in my tattered cotton jacket. While wondering where I could spend the night, I swallowed a pill, washing it down with snow. As it slid down, my throat churned, and the cold snow I gulped spread a bitter taste into my stomach. The pain in my legs was unbearable, and my stomach felt as if it were burning.

"Mrs. Crowe, are you sure you want me to cancel your flight ticket for moving abroad with Mr. Crowe in a week?" Milena Brooks' voice came through the phone, sounding confused. She was Asher Crowe's assistant. Gwyneth Payne stood on the balcony. She glanced at the withered trees below and made her decision. "Yes. Book me a flight to my parents' place for the same day and get Liana a flight overseas for that day, too. I'll see them off to settle down overseas in a week, then head back to my parents' place."
