Reborn as Betrayed Luna
There was a tiny, hidden slit cut into the inner seam of the back cover – a secret pocket built directly into the book’s spine.
I reached two fingers inside, feeling the texture of something delicate tucked deep into the dark space.
I pulled it out.
It was a single, perfectly preserved pressed silver flower - a rare Moon-Lily, glowing faint and iridescent even in the dim room.
The moment my bare skin touched the dried petals, a violent, electrifying shock surged through my fingertips, shooting straight up my arm and slamming into my brain.
The room suddenly vanished around me. I wasn't on the scaffold. I wasn't in the drawing room.
