she asked, her voice soft and full of concern. “Yeah,” I said, forcing a smile. “Just a client. Nothing important.” She seemed satisfied with that answer and went back to flipping through the catalog. “I think I’ve found the right color,” she said, holding up a swatch for me to see. I leaned in, curious. “Green?” I asked, raising an eyebrow. “Why green?” Emily laughed softly, her fingers brushing over the sample. “Green is calming. It’s soothing, like the color of trees and grass. It’s natural, peaceful. I think it’ll be perfect for the baby. Don’t you think?”

I mean, who could blame me? He's gorgeous. He has sandy blonde hair with some brown highlights. His face is just... pure perfection. Then I realised something that made me frown. I picked out a nice earthy sage, a calming colour to bring a bit of life to the building. The wall to the right has a plaster texture, in a more grayish tone, just as the floor is made of wood, there is a touch of rustic things, but not just any kind of tree, but more of a pine tree, just as the white and gray tones give the impression of a forest with snowflakes and there was also a touch of aristocracy. What immediately came to mind: "Silver Fangs". If I were to enter the apartment of a Silver Fang with resources and high rank, it would probably be something like this. Because everything glowed with luxury, even in those dark green, white and gray tones... with a few touches of brown from the tree trunks.

Unaccustomed to the freshness, my lungs jerkily expanded as I breathed in the tropical summer breeze. Sitting on the window sill of the room I could see the endless stretch of the forest beyond. Shades of green, yellow, and brown mingle with each other, seeming like an abstract art piece with a strong contrast between the pastel and bold shades. I never was one to take my time and truly appreciate the beauty of nature, but as the seasons were changing, so was I. I may call it a kind of self-realization, a kind of occasion to strike an intimate conversation with myself.

From its book, a beam of flat, white light shot out and touched our cottage wall. Where it touched, the texture of the wood—the grain, the knots, the subtle variations in color—smoothed out into a featureless, beige plane. It wasn't erased; it was genericized. This was the worst invasion yet. They weren't trying to destroy or control. They were trying to make us boring. “Over my dead, highly specific body,” I snarled, lightning crackling at my fingertips.

The hard glances and the sarcastic comments loaded with a meaning that she had yet to interpret. Gone was the heat and the passion that they’d shared in the pulsing heat of a rain-soaked forest. Gone was the intimacy, however shallow.

I was too absent minded to listen to their introductions. "Green is timeless, bold and very beautiful..." Just like my Eve. "It is the perfect color because it compliments every other color right there, it flatters almost all skin tones and would stand out when pictures are taken. Pretty sure, it would pop beautifully with the runway lighting. Lastly, green is associated with wealth, luxury, elegance..." And it reminds me of someone very close to my heart. I didn't add this part though... They would all think it was the reason I chose green which was the main reason anyways. "Ohh, you just literally changed my mind, Mr Gray." One said with a chuckle.
