Suddenly David walks out of the house with a scowl on his face “My warriors told me you were wandering around. What are you doing?” he asks me? “I could not sleep” I told him as I walked back inside. “That seems to be the case lately, what are you not telling me?” I turned to stare at him, I thought I was being discreet, and slipping out so I did not wake him. Apparently, I was mistaken. “Alright, I apologize, I have been having nightmares, I awake in a sweat, scared out of my mind, and I go for a walk to release my mind” I tell him as I sit down on the sofa.

... I bolted upright in my dorm bed, drenched in sweat. My roommate, Alice Hoyle, hovered over me, her brow furrowed with worry. "Elena, you alright? A nightmare?" I blinked at her familiar freckled face, then scanned the room. It was my college dorm, and I was alive. With doubt in my mind, I grabbed my phone and checked the date. It was 9 a.m., August 13th. On the same day, my dad had orchestrated his "death".

Chapter 16 ONARI I stared at the criss cross marks my nails had made on his back. He was snoring. How could anyone sleep off right after sex? Men were super annoying! This was the time I became restless, ideas flowing easily though me. An idea was already forming in my mind. I tapped him lightly on his hand but he didn't budge. I frowned and tapped him harder. He groaned and made to roll over, but I wasn't having any of it.

​Before I knew it, I'd named him and he'd become my own little obsession I wasn't willing to let go. ​As if sensing my thoughts, he wakes up slowly and stares straight back at me. He watches me for a moment before getting off the bed and going off to live his life in the confines of this apartment. ​I decide to follow Blaze's lead and get up. One glance out the window told me it was nighttime; I'd basically slept the whole day, and I was pleased with that. I'd fallen asleep in the same clothes I'd worn yesterday, my favorite knife still tucked into the small of my back at the back of my belt.

Noah sat on the edge of the bed, fidgeting with his fingers. “I had a nightmare,” he whispered. “I woke up and… you were gone. Sleep paralysis held me down. Then I heard noise. Thought maybe—” He faltered. “There were footsteps. The same footsteps that flooded my head when I met your uncle. Heavy, slow… I don’t know but I suddenly remember experiencing this before. I had frequent sleep paralysis before and there's always that footstep. I was awake when Red came in, but I couldn't move or speak.”

And it wasn't a good idea to startle someone awake in the middle of a sleepwalking episode—that he knew for sure. His mom's episodes often got triggered by stress, exhaustion, days of anxiety buildup, or all of the above. Maybe it was the same for Jessi? Surprising discovery, of course, but he couldn't blame her brain for reacting this way. It had been a pretty intense, eventful, and stressful weekend for her so far. Same for him. "No. No. But it's not fair..." Jessi took a step backward and let out a sigh, then distractedly itched her thigh with slow strokes, her words slurred and almost incoherent.

Calla Sleep came easier than expected after breaking down in Axel's arms. His presence wrapped around me like a warm blanket, blocking out the emotional noise that had been drowning me all day. For the first time since the forest massacre, I felt safe enough to let my guard down completely. But...of course, the universe had other plans. The familiar tug of a dreamwalk dragged me under just as I was finding peace. I groaned internally as consciousness shifted, my soul separating from my sleeping body.

Her thoughts raced in myriad directions, and her body felt restless. Normally, she would have relished the comfort of her cozy bed, but now, even her bed served as a reminder of Wyatt. Despite the fatigue from her night shift at the hospital, her alert mind sought more activity. In an attempt to find solace, she decided to go for a morning walk, leaving her dog behind. Clad in a jogging suit, she embarked on a lengthy walk, hoping it would grant her the deep, peaceful sleep she had been lacking for the past three days.
