Or so I thought.
The scent of the wolves grew stronger as we descended toward the forest, our wings cutting through the sky with a deafening roar. My heart thundered in my chest, my mind focused only on the battle that awaited. I could almost taste the coming destruction, the fury of my warriors, and the reckoning the wolves would face.
Then, without warning, a searing pain ripped through my chest.
It was sudden and sharp—blinding. My wings faltered in the air, and for a moment, my vision blurred. my breath hitched as I stumbled in mid-flight, the stabbing sensation intensifying with each beat of my heart.
