“I don’t know anymore.”
He stepped closer, closing the distance, heat radiating from him. “Then let me remind you,” he whispered, hands cradling her face, thumbs brushing her cheeks, “every heartbeat between us, every touch, every fight, every moment we’ve risked everything, that’s real. Not paper. Not terms. Real.”
Vanessa’s breath caught, and for a moment, she let herself believe it. But the uncertainty lingered, a stubborn ache at the center of her chest.
