It wouldn't last long, but right now it felt like anything was possible. I was standing there taking it all in when I noticed something absolutely ridiculous happening right next to me. Freya had completely abandoned her own house to go stand with the Stormrider section. Not just standing near them, actually standing with them, cheering loudly for their captain, Rory, like she had forgotten entirely which house she belonged to or like she just didn't care anymore. She was waving and cheering and completely ignoring the fact that she was supposed to be on the opposite side, rooting for Ravencroft, which was her actual house.

He spins, arms thrashing against the swarm. “NO!” My scream tears through the storm, desperation clawing at me. As if answering my cry, another flock of ravens descends from the sky, diving into the ravens on Raphael. Ravens clash against ravens, a storm of feathers and fury. Raphael plunges into the pond, still buried beneath a few of them. Over the water, war rages. I slide into the pond, clinging to Raphael as he finally breaks the surface, free of the birds. He pulls me into a protective embrace, and together we watch the madness above us until the sky clears and silence returns.

And if they were camping they would not need money so that meant that… A little cry, broken by misery shattered the thoughts I was having as I followed it to see Zara crying close to the fire. I was there in an instant, down on my knees in the dirt next to her. Her face was grayish and smeared with dirt and tears. And her leg — oh, by the gods, it was bent in a bad way just below the ankle. "Freya," I said urgently. "What's happened? How did this happen?" Freya was still by the tree, but she’d wrapped her arms around herself. She looked small. So damn small. “She… she broke it,” she whispered, voice hoarse. “When we were running.”

“You’re an omega, after all. No one with any sense will want a filthy Omega.” Omega. He spat the word like an insult, but I couldn’t even understand or care about what he was saying. I just wanted out! “Release me immediately.” I gritted my teeth. “You can’t do this.” “It’s already done.” My nails dug into my palms. This wasn’t real. This wasn’t happening. I wasn’t a bloody omega or whatever. I wasn’t some property to be sold. I was Freya Vaughn. And I would destroy every single person who thought they could take away my freedom.

The Raven bird flew above me, waiting for me to give it the go-ahead. "My brothers," I addressed them solemnly. "The Sunshade pack has taken what is ours. They have abducted one of ours, Freya Hadid." Growls of outrage rippled through the assembled soldiers. "This insult cannot stand. Today, we ride out to bring her back and show those curs what it means to provoke the wrath of the Crimson pack!" Howls of excitement echoed off the stone walls as my warriors raised their swords and guns in salute. The bloodlust of the hunt was upon us now. I mounted my massive black dire horse, feeling the power of the beast surging beneath me, eager for battle.

’ I cringe at the images she sends me of us doing exactly that with her tongue hanging out in glee. “I understand the enormity of what I am asking Raven. The Moonstone for your mate’s freedom. I will give you a few days to think it over and meet you back here. But understand this, Rafe is not the only one. The majority of my army is comprised of wolves that are manipulated. Do you know what it’s like to have your mind manipulated, Raven?” he doesn’t wait for me to answer as he continues with glee.

It's a major job, but these kids have become my life and I'll be damned if anyone hurts my kids. My report was very general in nature. I purposely left it vague to not arouse any suspicion that there would be any reason the rogues would attack the camp. I thought I was in the clear, but apparently, I wasn't. We were all sparing for morning practice. I was sparing with Dea when he stood up and motioned to the path that leads to the front courtyard of the parking lot. "Hey....Look." I stood up and turned to the direction he was nodding to. Alpha Fredericks was coming down the path to the field. I turned back to Dea. "Fuck." I yelled to the field. "ALPHA ON THE FIELD!!"

Wolfless. A fate in a pack considered worse than death. “Father,” I hear Raven cry out as she scrambles to my side, taking my uncut hand in hers, jamming it into mine and interlocking her fingers tightly. “We can’t let Freya go.” “She doesn’t belong here,” my father’s voice softened. Not for my sake, but for hers. “Freya is my best friend,” Raven insisted. “Mother is right, she is family. She can’t help that this happened, she didn’t ask to be this way.”

“Dad, this is camp, it’s where I’ve been living.” “And you know all of these people?” “Yes. Although some of them aren’t from the camp, we have a lot of alpha Wayne’s fighters here”. “Alpha Wayne?... but why?”. “Raven, you’re back!”. I heard grams call as walked out of her cabin door. As soon as her eyes clocked dad standing next to me she suddenly stopped in her tracks as she looked completely taken aback. “Abe!”. Her lip wobbled as she took in the sight of him.

Freya's Point of View The scent of old wood and earth fills my lungs as I stand in my cabin, the flickering lantern light casting long shadows across the worn map spread out on the kitchen table. The surface is cluttered with markers, notes, and lines drawn in red and black ink, each one representing a step in the trap that we have spent days perfecting. Ravena stands across from me, her arms crossed over her chest, her posture sharp and ready. Her crimson hair catches the light like flame.
