That I had a destiny to fulfill.” Azraiel's throat tightened. “She called me Raven,” Charlotte whispered. “She said the flames are part of a prophecy... that I’m the one meant to bridge realms.” His heart thudded. “She told me I’d understand in time, and that the flames—what happened to me—were both a gift and a curse. That I would change the future of our kind.” Charlotte looked at him then. “I don’t know what that means, Azraiel. I don’t understand any of it.”

Nico and Maya sat together, Maya leaning against her brother’s side, half-asleep, her rabbit in her lap, Nico’s hand resting protectively on her small shoulder. Nico looked up, catching Raven’s gaze across the fire. He nodded once. It was small, but it was everything. After the pack drifted to their quarters, Raven and Ragnar stood beneath the stars, the cold wind brushing against them, the world quiet. “She’s going to be a handful,” Ragnar said, a soft smile on his lips. “Like someone else I know,” Raven teased, bumping her shoulder into his. Ryker said, his tone turning conspiratorial. I said nothing and an uncomfortable silence lingered in the air. My eyes never left his, as I tried to think of the possible outcomes of this new and deadly alliance. “So I ask you, Raven daughter of Ragnar, Alpha of Vixen Pack. Will you infiltrate Fenrir’s ranks? Will you become my eyes and ears in his pack?” Ryker said and stretched his hand again. “I have my conditions,” I said, my voice as cold as ice. “Let’s hear it,” Ryker said, his hands in his pocket.
