This scene would be a ghastly feast for any vampire, a sight that was capable of satisfying their darkest and most depraved desires - blood. Their fists pounded against me. And all I could do was cover my head and take it. Until the night split open. A roar. Not mine. Not theirs. A growl. Low. Deep. Ancient. And then one of them screamed. A body flew across the alley. Something black moved in the shadows. Fast. Deadly. Another vampire went down, throat slashed open. The tall one turned, fangs bared. But he didn't last long. A blur of motion. A flash of claws. A snarl.

Everything seemed to happen within a split second. They never stood a chance. Jake was slammed back hard against a tree, rendering him unconscious and Brad was grabbed and hurled out of the trees before a hand closed around Izzie's throat. A pair of horrifying familiar red eyes invaded her vision, it was followed by that murderous snarl flashing those wickedly sharp fangs at her. It was the vampire that had broken into her house and attacked her. She'd know him anywhere, she still had nightmares about him. There were darkened veins visible on his face and neck this time, making him look even more nightmarish.

I whipped my head towards Maya one last time to make sure she was safe before bolting down with the sole purpose to attack that damn creature. The vampire teleported in front of me first, but before he could touch me, Shaun grabbed the vampire's arm. Shaun flipped the vampire on the floor without difficulty. The second time Shaun tries to knock the vampire down, the vampire pulls out the gun and shoots Shaun's body three times in a row.

A vampire? I gasped, stepping backward, my body reacting before my mind could catch up. ‘Leo... is a vampire?’ But before I could process anything further, Leo lunged, his fangs sinking deep into my neck, the cold pressure of his teeth sending shockwaves through my body. The pain was sharp, terrifying. I screamed, feeling his fangs tear into my flesh, and in that instant, everything around me seemed to blur and vanish. With all my might, I screamed. I jolted awake, stumbling backward as I got out of the bed. The room spun, my vision swimming with terror. Just then, the door flew open with a violent crash.

POV Sammy I let what Cash's friend and Locke had told us sink in. If they were telling the truth, Kitty was in more danger than we thought. This trip was only going to take a couple of days. Luckily, the Vampires had a road system cleared the entire way down since they had been clearing roads since the start of the Nightmare. They used them to find humans that wanted to be turned.
