Alex ~ By the next morning, Seth is still a shadow of himself. He moves around the room in silence, grabbing his hoodie like armor, slipping out before I can figure out how to hold him still long enough to talk. The door clicks shut, and I’m left staring at the space he vacated like maybe it’ll give me answers.

I was meant to die, and they despise me for it, they’re bitter, because my promised one has come to greet me. Seth is so much bigger and taller than I thought he would be, broad-shouldered, with alabaster skin and black hair. His eyes are dark orange and I’m mesmerized because I’ve never seen a color like it. He is wearing casual clothes, a polo, and long brown pants because he wouldn’t be busy today. But his frown plastered over his face shows he was so worried about me. I flashed my fangs, victorious because I had won. He takes my hand and everyone watches as he is forced to get down on one knee and kiss the hand of the woman he failed to kill.

So as soon as the birds began to chirp outside sometime after 4:00 AM, he jumped out of bed, took a leisurely shower, and headed to his study to make a few calls. Seth was first on his to-do list, and he didn't sound too excited to hear from him when he eventually picked up after Austin's fourth attempt. "Mr Hawthorne, do you know what time it is?" Seth grumbled. "Someone had better be missing, or your money was stolen. Those are the only acceptable excuses for calling me like this at the crack of dawn!" "But it's 4:30 AM!" Austin shot back. "Exactly my point!" came Seth's snippy response amidst the gentle creaking of the bed and rustling of clothes on his end.

Since we entered this place, he had tried to claw his way out twice. “What’s with the mood?” Seth chuckled, stepping out onto the balcony and leaning on the railings. “Not so fond of Seve?” Cursing, I tossed back my whiskey, grabbed the bottle from the floor, and refilled my glass. “You were watching.” “Of course I was,” Seth said, snatching the bottle from me and filling his glass. Wearing all-black attire with gold embroidery, Seth’s stature resembled that of a king. Noticing his tights, I smiled to myself. At least I am not alone in this ridiculous clothing.

"Thea!" Seth stood there with a grim look as he shouted, "Darryl is a scumbag. It's not a pity if he dies. As the captain of the guards, you've colluded with him. Have you ever thought about the consequences? Put down your weapons immediately, and I might give you a chance!" Thea's lovely face looked determined. "Seth, don't be a hypocrite. I have worked under you all these years, so I know who you are. I have thought about quitting this job for a long time."

He was clearly very tired. "Seth," she repeated. "Why did you help me escape Drousin, and later try to distract those soldiers so I could get away?" "Was right thing to do," he mumbled sleepily, but didn't elaborate. She lay there for several minutes pondering his answer. She had never met anyone like him before. That was the last thought in her head before she drifted off to sleep. * * * Seth drifted back to consciousness slowly. He was lying on his back and there was a warm weight draped across half his chest. He smiled.

All I knew was I had to get here. “I’m here to see Mrs Edward,” I stammered. He tapped his ear and spoke into the in-ear monitor, “Boss, there’s someone here to see you.” “What’s your name?” “Seth.” “His name is Seth.” The silence that lasted while he listened to whatever she had to say over the phone was loud. He waved me over after a few minutes and nodded at his counterpart to open the gate. As I walked through the large bars, I saw the swing all too late, and before I turned I felt a heavy blow to the back of my neck. I stumbled, grasping at the air till I scuffed against the stones and toppled to the ground.

He stuffed the ring back into his pocket, looking completely flustered and defeated. "Give me some time. I'll bring the world's best doctors to heal you." After saying this in a hurry, Nathan stumbled off, leaving in a rush. As Serena watched Nathan leave, tears streamed down her face as she clung to Seth, pleading and whining. "Seth!" However, Seth did not comfort her immediately. He frowned, irritated, and shoved her aside. "Sylvie is sick. Don't be childish." Serena pouted in annoyance. "She's sick? I'm the one with a cut, Seth!"

Seth’s POV Those eyes that crawled under my skin as I looked through the shadows all through these years. Something about him never sat well with me, his fox-like eyes. Even if he looked clean, I couldn't help but suspect there’s something rotten under his skin. “Is there anything I may help you with, Elder Valen?” He finally stepped out of the shadows. “It appears I lost my way.” This old fox. “Mhm-hm.” He didn’t respond for a moment but when he did, his voice was quieter. “How is it possible I didn't know about the king’s new mysterious aide?”

Cade drew his omega closer to him leaving no space between and enveloping his arms in the waist of the other. Tonight, he might have a good dream. It was already noon when Seth woke up the next day, his head had particularly severe pain and his butt was painful! Opening his eyes, he stared blankly at the ceiling, though his room had a dark ceiling too, but the chandelier was different!
