“Why are you laughing, you psycho?” Adrian’s face twisted in confusion and disgust. “What’s so damn funny?” His eyes narrowed, as if me laughing was worse than any insult. Tricia’s voice was quick to join in. “Yeah, tell us, freak. What’s so funny?” She folded her arms, waiting like she’d already won. I stopped laughing and straightened up, though my throat still hurt from it, but I found enough courage to answer. My voice didn’t even shake this time. “You!”

A message bubble lit up under his name, cheerful and oblivious. Just another one of his dry, stupid jokes—something about his dinner being so terrible he was convinced the restaurant was trying to assassinate him with undercooked chicken. He'd probably attached one of those ridiculous GIFs he was always finding, something animated and silly that was meant to make me laugh.

A sense of frustration creeping over me, feeling a pang of embarrassment at my lack of recollection. Rubbing my head furiously, frustration bubbled within me. Damn it, what had happened last night? It felt like something crucial had slipped through the cracks of my memory, and the urgency to remember gnawed at me relentlessly. With trembling hands, I reached back to massage the sore spot at the back of my head, hoping to somehow jog my memory.

“What’s the deal with that? Is she grooming you to be her daughter-in-law or something?” … Or something. “Hell,” I snap, “like her, Kiara and I just enjoy female company now and then, alright? Is that a crime?” Three days of frustration are jammed inside me, vibrating like an overfilled pressure cooker — personal frustration, emotional frustration, environmental frustration, sexual frustration, situational frustration. Take your pick. “Guess not.” His voice is now much softer. I feel a flicker of guilt for barking at him — but it dies fast.

I slammed the phone down in frustration and ran my fingers through my hair. Arrghh, this is hard. Harder than I thought. These bastards really love their riddles. Damn!

Asher's expression turned into a deep frown as he cast his gaze upon Sarah and Henry, who were both bursting into uncontrollable laughter. The sound of their mirth filled the air, and Asher couldn't help but feel a pang of annoyance mixed with confusion. "Why are you laughing?" Asher questioned, his voice laced with exasperation as he let out a heavy sigh. He could feel frustration welling up inside him, causing him to take a few steps towards the nearby counter. With a hint of resignation, he lowered himself onto the chair he had previously occupied.

I wondered what it tasted like. I audibly groaned at how uncomfortably my pants strained around my hardened dick. Clenching my jaw, I strolled over to the window and placed an open palm along its cool surface. I was never this frustrated. I didn't let things bother me. Because why should they? I couldn't give a flying fuck about what people thought or did. If someone else's actions impacted me, I dealt with them and moved on. I didn't get frustrated.

Kim said laughing and Sydney smiled widely. “The frustration is part of the reason why you are our friend. If you don’t like a person, it is hard to get frustrated by them because you ignore them most of the time.” Sydney explained and Kim nodded. “Of course. Even though you all are so annoying, I still never stopped going to you guys.” Sydney smiled. “You loved the frustration,” Sydney said and they both laughed “I did. And I don’t want to lose that frustration now.” She said. “Wow. I can’t believe I am crying.” Sydney said chuckling.

The silence stretched out, thick and uncomfortable, until Frank tried to break it with that awkward little half-smile he got when he was desperate not to let things fall apart. "Well," he said, his tone light but forced, "at least we know why my uncle was such a jerk to me growing up. Guess he was just getting in practice for the whole ’blackmail a murderer’ phase." The joke landed like a damp towel, flat, a bit pathetic, yet somehow just what we needed. A small, broken laugh slipped out before I could stop it, followed by Rowan huffing out something that might have been a chuckle if it didn’t sound so painful.
