Gabi said. “Yes.” Maria smoothed her hair back. “I’m going to need you for a while.” “That’s OK.” “You won’t get fired?” “No. No, I’ll be fine.” She stared at Maria’s golden glow, at her amazing warmth, and that’s when Gabi realized that she had changed in some fundamental way, deep inside. It was death’s shadow, maybe, or fear so all-encompassing that even once it ends, it never really releases its hold on you.

Another lurched behind it. Gabriel stepped past Evelyn and drove the blunt end of his axe into its knee hard enough to fold the leg backward. The infected hit the ground face-first. Before it could claw itself upright, Gabriel brought the axe down again. Not dramatic. Not wasteful. One hard strike, then he was moving, already looking for the next one.

Finn asked as she turned to look at him. “I went after Gabriel. He’s not the man who you think he is,” I growled as Finn scoffed, shaking his head. This is why Anna shouldn’t have brought the idiot. “Going after Gabriel is the same as going after Octavia. He marked her!” He growled, his eyes flickering a colour that I wasn’t comfortable with. “He is a monster who slaughtered an entire species for his benefit. Him and his brothers wiped the witches of Azure out. That’s why he is cursed!” I growled as Anna gasped, turning to look at me.

I look at my brothers before I look at my son, “Apolliana has been unleashed. Did anything else occur?” Gabriel interjects before Fallon can answer, “Yes, the seas are rising, and the forests are dying. How could you be so irresponsible, Lucifer?” I grit my teeth as Fallon turns to face Gabriel and glares, “Who the bloody hell do you think you are?” Gabriel arches a brow as he runs his gaze appraisingly over Fallon’s form. “I do not have to answer to an abomination.” Before Fallon can attack, I step between them, “Stop it! We don’t have time for this!”

She began gathering clothes as the Angel towered over Xavier, sniffing him. “Stop!” She screamed causing Xavier to look confused. “I’m not doing anything.” He protested. “Just get out so I can get dressed.” Xavier held his hands up while walking out of the room. She sighed looking deadly at the Angel. “Who are you?” She asked in a much lower tone. “I’m Gabriel, God’s warrior, one of the many carriers of souls.” “Well Gabriel, whatever,” His eyebrows rose at her clear disrespect. “I have a job to do so just go away and let me focus.”
