Dirty and Sinful Collection
Tired of waiting.
Gabriel is collecting books at the altar, his profile carved out in stained glass colors. His movements are automatic and careful. He always looks careful. I think about how his hands shook, just a little, when he touched me the night of the storm. I want to see that again. I want to see him lose control, just once, even if it means losing everything else.
I cross the aisle, my heels quiet on the ancient stones. He doesn’t hear me until I’m almost on him. When he turns, surprise flashes in his eyes, followed by something darker. He looks tired, but he’s still beautiful in a way that has nothing to do with God.
