“I was trying to be nice,” he said quietly. “I even came to apologize.”
“That wasn’t an apology,” I snapped.
“That was an offer,” he corrected.
“I’m not for sale.”
More whispers spread around the room.
Matthew’s eyes narrowed slightly. “You know,” he said calmly, “people like you should really learn their place.”
My jaw tightened.
“You’re a scholarship student,” he continued. “You should be grateful people like me even talk to you.”
