Kaelor stood beside him, his amber eyes fixed on the viewscreen.
Outside, the nebula was gone. In its place was a black hole—a spinning, terrifying eye of absolute darkness rimmed with a halo of violet fire. The gateway to the Galactic Core.
"The Alpha said this was the only way," Aradaa said, his hands hovering over the nerve-console. His fingers were still trembling. "We upload our union. We become the blueprint."
"Then let's give them something to read," Kaelor growled. He stepped up behind Aradaa, his hand resting on the small of his back, his thumb tracing the sting of the shifter-mark he’d left on Aradaa’s skin.
