Game over.
To anyone else, it looks like I’ve won them over completely, and in truth, I almost believe it myself.
I know kids. They’re simple creatures. Give them a toy, a smile, a bit of attention, and they melt. These two are no different, no matter how much Logan Rossi and my ungrateful daughter Madeline want to pretend otherwise. They’re just children, and I’ve been doing this kind of game far longer than anyone gives me credit for. A week of carefully timed visits, of smiles, of bending down to their level and pretending I cared, and here we are, the perfect setup. Tomorrow, we’ll make our move.
