Sheira giggled as we did the high-five. I glanced at where Gavin and that unfamiliar girl was sitting a while ago. I tried to look composed and unaffected. After a few minutes, I saw both of them stood up and held the books he borrowed. Gavin held three books on his left arm while he let the girl take a grip of his arm with both of her hands. I felt my hands gripping the book so tight as I gritted my teeth. "Gosh, you may never tell me but I am sure you're super jealous right now."

Three years ago, I would've waited patiently for him to give me the green light to enter. Not anymore. I shove it open with a force that made it slam hard against the wall with a sharp crack. Gavin doesn't flinch or look up. He knew it was me. He stands behind his desk, the sleeves of his dress shirt rolled to his forearms. He seem to be dressed formal which leads me to believe Jonah was speaking the truth. He was heading for that meeting with the council about Silver Blood. Gavin's large frame is bent slightly forward as he stacks papers neatly into a leather brown suitcase. He looks rather calm, completely ignoring my raging form glaring at him across the room.

“Dad, do you guys know him?” “Yeah, we know him.” Dad lets out a sigh. “He is Gavin’s son-in-law.” Everyone in the room except for April and Meg looks at me as to who Gavin is. “Gavin was my Grandfather’s Gamma. He and his mate only had one child, a daughter. His daughter was to be the next Gamma when Uncle Shane took over as Alpha but she found her mate, this Jake guy and wanted to move to his pack with him. That is when Meg’s Dad, Mac…” I give Meg a small squeeze. “…was asked to take the Gamma spot. When Gavin retired he started doing the training evaluations at the schools and he is currently dating our future Luna’s Grandmother.”

There were just too many nutcases out today. As she approached the back of the sheriff's department, she noticed Gavin Covington slipping out the back door, his slender frame straight as a gentle wind tousled his already unruly light brown hair. He was tall with an imposing build. His dark auburn hair and quiet demeanor didn’t fool me a bit. His aura was top notch and with each step he took, I couldn't help but conclude that he was someone who thinks highly of himself. “Thank you for granting me an audience." He said, like he meant it but his eyes were sweeping around the room, taking in the framed maps of our territories and a few paintings which hung on the wall.

“If you don’t need me for anything else I can go lower the dosage now.” Miss Evens and I both nodded and he stood up and left the room. Miss Evens brought out a large leather bound book. Holding records for new pledges to the pack, releases and exiles. I was interested in what she found about Gavin and Paula. Thumbing through the pages I watched as the years went backwards. She stopped somewhere in the 1970’s. “Gavin was gone for at least a year but when he returned he was happy to announce that he had found his mate Paula. She pledged to the pack not long after. “So, Gavin. What do you like to do when you’re not healing people? Any hobbies?” A flicker of surprise flashed across Gavin’s face. His eyes lit up. “Oh, plenty. I like reading, tending my small herb garden, and brewing alcohol when I feel experimental.” That question turned out to be the icebreaker as I learned a lot about Gavin, more than I knew after five years of interactions. But what really bugged me was Gavin didn’t ask anything about me. I tried to brush it off, but the way to the nearest werewolf pack was quite long. I couldn’t help but ask.

Hearing that, Rey and Jaxon glared at Gavin angrily. “Why did you book those women, Gavin?!” Rey growled half-explosively. Meanwhile, Jaxon just stared hotly at Gavin, as if he was about to punch a hole in his best friend’s head with his gaze. “For surprise, of course,” Gavin mumbled in annoyance, as if he was the one at a disadvantage here. Gideon patted Gavin’s head a little hard. “I should have just soaked your head in the bath.” Gavin glared at Gideon as he grimaced and stroked his aching head.
