The room shifted with the weight of her presence. She wore a sleeveless black sequin dress that hugged her figure and stopped just above her knees. The neckline dipped slightly, hinting at the shape of her breast without giving too much away. Her honey-brown hair was parted loosely, falling in soft waves over her shoulders. Her makeup was light but skillfully done, highlighting the angles of her face. A silver clutch hung from her hand, and her feet were encased in matching silver heels. She looked stunning, and the men found themselves rising to their feet one by one without even realizing it.

“Reality’s got a sense of humor.” Then— There was a knock. Not on the door. On reality. A shimmer opened in midair, just past Jimmy’s beanbag chair. And four figures stepped out. Two witches—identical twins, one dressed in pure white, the other in shimmering black—floated just above the floor. Between them slithered a small dragon, the color of molten silver, eyes glowing with mischief. And last, gliding in behind, was a tall woman whose skin glistened like moonlit water, hair trailing behind her like waves—a mermaid, but with legs cloaked in mist.

It was driving me crazy. Did I mention my life sucked? Inhaling another deep breath, I marched to the theatre room. Little Miss Mermaid had to watch those little girly shows on her own today. I was not going to change my plans because of her. Alex was a man. A fucking grown man. Not a toy she could play with.

Sarah POV We were excited and trying to hide it. We weren’t being very effective. Last night, I had read yet again from The Little Mermaid. “She was a strange child, quiet and thoughtful. While her sisters showed delight at the wonderful things which they obtained from the wrecks of vessels, she cared only for her pretty flowers, red like the sun, and a beautiful marble statue. It was the representation of a handsome boy, carved out of pure white stone, which had fallen to the bottom of the sea from a wreck.”

She fixed it up and made it nice and sat it in her backpack for the clumsy boy she met at Deadmans Bridge. But overall, he's nothing how her mother described him to be. She always told her to stay away from white men because of how dangerous they are, especially to people like Ariel. Ernest wasn't like that all, in fact, he's more of a danger to himself than anyone else, really. After Ariel finished her shower, she went into her room and put on her clothing for today, a yellow dress and yellow bow with her little black shoes. Once Ariel finished lotioning down and putting on her clothes, her biggest challenge had come, her hair.

She whispered a strange language into the shell and then the water started to bubble. Then something started swimming up to the surface. It was a mermaid. She was very beautiful. Isabella and her dad couldn't believe what they were seeing. A shrill sound came out of the mouth of the mermaid and they covered their ears. The Good Witch handed her the shell. The mermaid was happy to receive it. “What does the shell do?”
