Gentleman's Library Novels & Stories

Every time my boots clicked against the marble steps, I kept bracing myself for another text to buzz against my hip, another threat counting down the hours until it got dark outside. At the bottom of the stairs, Alexander led me straight into the library. It was this huge room with floor-to-ceiling glass windows looking out over the city, packed with dark mahogany bookshelves that went all the way up to the roof. The whole room reeked of old money, heavy leather, and wood polish. Two older guys in slick charcoal suits were sitting at a big conference table in the middle of the room. They had stacks of neat, identical papers laid out in front of them with terrifying precision. A heavy silver

A glance at her watch informed Mrs Andromeda that the morning was already considerably advanced, and as they had come out with the intention of visiting one of the libraries, and taking out a subscription, both ladies now left the Grove, and, passing the Castle Inn, made their way across the Steyne to Darlington's Library. Accustomed as she was by this time to the superiority of the Rome libraries, Miss Tellaro was yet amazed at the spaciousness and elegance of Darlington's. The collection of books was large, the morning papers and most valuable of the periodical publications were arranged on the table for the use of subscribers; and the rooms, which were many, were fitted up with a taste th

He hugged me back for a moment and then straightened. “Would you like to see our library? It’s very nice, my great grandmother had it built.” “I’d love to,” I said. The library was amazing. it covered two stories of the manor, with shelves lining an open balcony and rolling ladders spaced around to help reach books higher up. There were tables for studying, several of which were occupied by wolves I recognized as some of Ethan’s guards. There were little reading nooks in odd corners, with plush chairs and reading lights, and a few odd little nests of pillows and blankets set near the windows.

Keeping my thoughts from Rhayden was not hard. The moment the doors to the library opened and he stepped into its darkened interior, my only thought was on the other man inside. Rhayden cleared his throat. “Absinthe, Marlene Brennan, as requested.” “Thank you, Rhayden. Give her a room.” That silken voice called to me, and I could not help but move. Stepping into the doorway of the grand library, I stopped. The mansion’s library had always had me in awe. The walls lined with rows upon rows of shelves, crammed with old tomes. Soft lighting illuminated a wooden desk against the back window and a huge slab of wood in the center of the room, which served as a conference table.

Valerie entered the mansion, so beautiful and sophisticated it was just as she predicted, at the sitting room, There were to stair cases at both side, one for the guests and the other for the Library. Vera hopped towards the front and followed Valerie, when they reached the Library, there were hundreds of shelves, with millions of books like vera stated. She smiled and joy filled her smile, her void heart filled with happiness for once again, as she slides her fingers across the books and she furthered to pick a book, but a hand caught it instead. "This is Mira the cruellest mistress !" Vera quickly whispered, "How dare a lowly mistress comes into the sacrilegious Library of Lady Taylor and

"Thank you for… this conversation." He made his way through the elegant hallway, following Gage’s directions to the library. He paused at the third door, knocking lightly before entering. The library was impressive, two stories of floor-to-ceiling bookshelves with a rolling ladder to access the highest volumes. Light flooded through tall windows; he could see comfortable reading nooks and antique furniture.

the poor woman muttered. Up the regal stairs we went, and down a marble gallery with more family portraits hanging from the white walls, to the last tall wooden double doors. Mr. Blotter pushed them open and motioned for me to walk in first. It was a large library, no ceiling, the roof a beautiful white dome with tainted glass two stories above our head. “What kind of records are you looking for, Miss Garner?” the man asked, leading us down a wide aisle between sturdy wooden shelves with all kinds of books and old binders with documents.

The irony was painful, I was here to spy on him, to gather information for the syndicate, and now I’d be sitting next to him at dinner, pretending everything was normal. As evening fell, the mansion came alive with activity. Luxury cars began arriving, and packed in the garage. Five men stepped out, each one exuding power. Gerrard greeted them personally, leading them to the Library, a part of the house reserved for his most secret dealings. It was heavily guarded, soundproofed, and off-limits to almost everyone.

The full library is the correspondence. He wrote in the pocket notebook: May city library visit — the six other rooms. The honest conditions already present: lower ceiling, forty centimetre warmth, reaching shelves, internal window, four-sided carrel, courtyard reflected light. All accidents. The library building its honest conditions in the wrong order. The section puts them in the right places and makes them intentional. The library is full of honest conditions it does not know it has. The full library is the correspondence.

his green eyes were warm but there was something behind them; that carrying quality I had noticed at the gala; like a debt he was always partly thinking about. Lunch was long and comfortable, held in a dining room with tall windows and warm afternoon light. Richard asked about the Hamptons project, and I talked about the northeast light angles and the linen materials and the client's response to the revised renders, and his face while I spoke was the face of a man genuinely pleased. After lunch, Xander took a call from Benjamin and stepped outside. Richard said, "Come. I'll show you the library." The library was the kind of room I had drawn in notebooks since I was fourteen: dark shelves, wa
