I shake my head, forcing myself to look away from them. I need to leave here before I do something stupid, like listening to the voice in my head.

Mike gestured toward his drink. “Tonight? Don’t think about Clara. Don’t think about what she meant, what she didn’t mean, any of that.” He shrugged. “Just drink it off and let your brain take a night off.”

She hummed, “Do you want to talk about them?” I shook my head again, “No, but I think I’m going to take a walk today to try to clear my head.” I looked over to her and she nodded her head and smiled, my mom knew how important it was to clear your mind when something was bothering you. ‘You could either go stir crazy with your thoughts trapped in the house or you could release them to the earth and let it cleanse you,’ that was what she always said. “Just be safe and don’t go too far, love you,” she said from a distance at the table as I opened the front door.
