Shaking from head to toe and telling myself not to do this. Live in ignorance, don’t scratch the surface. Let it go. We can go on living as we are, and that’s enough. I can leave this boat unrocked and ignore this feeling inside of me. It’s better to look the other way and act like there’s nothing there for my sanity.

“Hazel..” “GET OUT!”

My ears couldn’t hear a thing but my mind could. I shut my eyes, desperately trying to think of something to get her out but none of it worked. The laugh turned to a humming of some sort that made it all worse. My eyes were no doubt red from all the crying and my head felt like it was about to burst. I screamed again, wanting her to leave me alone. To get out of my head. “Get out! Get out! Please, make it stop!” I yelled gripping my head tightly and falling to the ground.

The voice mumbles. “Get out of my damn head!” I hiss. “Can't do that. I'm kind of rooted here. May I add that your thoughts are very much disturbing? Have you ever thought of seeing a therapist? We don't have those in the underground, but I think I have heard humans mention those a couple of times.” It goes on a rant about an absolutely irrelevant topic.

I said to myself. “Keep those thought out of your mind so you won’t have to loose your innocent head before the end of today.” A cold voice whispered to my ears and it sent chills to my spin.

Here I was hopelessly in love with a woman I could never have. I grabbed my gym bag and left our apartment. I needed a good workout to clear my head. I skipped the elevator and ran down the stairs and when I got to the front of the gym, I grabbed my ear buds and put them in and pulled up my playlist. Of course, the first fucking song that came in through my ear buds was Just the Way You Are. That was my song for Finny. I was trying to get her out of my head and not think about her anymore. I flung my bag over my shoulders and took off running. I only had two miles to get to the gym, and it would be a good warm up.

As much as this scared me, I knew that the more time I wasted, the higher the chances of Gomez falling down. Seeing as the coast was clear, I cleared my mind. “Okay Ice, what do I do?” Gomez was still standing at the top of the roof and I needed to get up there quickly. “You need to let me take over. You're in control now.” “Of course, I'm in control. It's my body! How on earth am I going to do that?” “You’re stressed. Just take a deep breath. Close your eyes and envision yourself disconnecting from your body. Just forget about everything that's going on around you.”
