I moved towards the table and unlatched the silver clasps on the box, lifted the lid, and took a breath.
The contents shone underneath the soft interior lights like they were breathing.
There were three tiers. The top shelf had neckpieces—one was a waterfall design, delicate and fluid. Another was a collar-style choker, bold and commanding. The third was a single strand, clean, classic, and elegant.
Beneath that were earrings and bracelets. Every piece was custom-designed. One pair of earrings caught my eye. It was pear-shaped drops with a halo of smaller stones, paired with a matching tennis bracelet.
