Her vision blurred, shadows creeping at the edges as the specter’s touch drained her strength. “Elara!” Kael’s voice rang out, sharp with alarm. He swung his dagger, but the blade passed through the ghostly form harmlessly. The specter didn’t flinch, its hollow gaze locked onto Elara as it whispered something unintelligible—words in a language long lost to time.

Everyone did, but then, it might be her way of calling him invincible since this is the first time he's making his presence known" Her co-worker whispered back.

He immediately approached to help and asked in a whisper, "How are you? Did you learn anything new about it?" Raia looked around first before slowly arranging the books on the shelves. "For now, there's not much. But last night, I heard loud noises near the women's bathroom. I don't know who or what caused that sound, but when I went to the bathroom at night, I saw a human figure on the wall. I'm sure all the women were already asleep at that time, and I can't be wrong; that person was huge, no doubt. It could be a ghoul," he said flatly, without hesitation.

But I knew about this place. Knew it. The Whispering Willows. A sacred place I had only heard about in books, in ghost stories. I exhaled slowly, stunned. “How long has it been?” came a voice like velvet and wind. I turned quickly. Elara stood near the base of one of the larger trees, her robes blending with the shadows, silver hair gleaming like starlight. I hadn’t even heard her arrive. “Elara. What are you doing here?” I breathed, so many questions on my mind.

Eli’s POV The world outside was steeped in darkness. Night had descended rapidly, devouring any remains of warmth. I stood on the edge of the debris, the cool wind piercing into me like a knife. The dust has begun to settle around what used to be a stronghold of terror and manipulation—a shattered monument to my father’s sick ambition. But as I saw the ruins, I realized this wasn’t the end. It was only the start of something darker. I felt Eli’s presence alongside me before he spoke, his warmth pouring through the chill. “He’s not gone,” he whispered quietly, his voice both a comfort and a threat. “You know that, don’t you?”
