Lisa stood at the garden entrance, her eyes wide as they took in the setting. For a moment, she just stared. She looked so beautiful in the soft evening light, her hair falling in loose waves down her shoulders, her lips parted in surprise. Then our eyes met. God, I had missed those eyes. He looked at the horizon, where a single, black helicopter was rising from the other side of the ridge, its lights off, silent as a predatory bird. "They’re leaving," Dante said. "Wait," Ivy said, grabbing his arm. "Look at the fountain." The mountain of silver hearts was gone. In its place, the grey-habited woman sat on the stone edge, holding a single, real, human heart in her hands. It was still beating, connected to nothing, pulsing with a slow, rhythmic thud. She looked up at them, her eyes now the same shimmering silver as the twin in the photo.

Rosie nods, “Let me have a look.” She hands the box to the woman, who carefully lifts the box so she can inspect the gems against the light. “Hmm, they’re blue-black. So… maybe mind control?” Greyson nods and explains what George had told them in the office. Rosie nods again, and puts her hand out over the gems and pulls some of the magic out of the smaller gems, much like Greyson had done in England.

She went into the room and dressed up in an elegant long white gown that was sweeping the floor. Anita helped with choosing the golden high heels and Anya did a great job with the makeup she did for her. She layered her neck and hands with a thick powder that didn’t let the scar on them show. “Now, you are good to go.” Anya smiled. Mila wanted to stand up, and Anita kneeled down in front of her. “Please, Mila dear, behave yourself there. Act like someone that is trained with money. I know you are bound by poverty, but please mind yourself.” She disgraced her with her words. She was trying to plead with her, but she was used to stoning abusive words, and she couldn’t help.

Grace said as she came through the door. "Grace, yes. Please come in, it's your house after all." I say as Mira grabs her bag from the bed. "I'll be outside." She says as she elegantly makes her exit leaving me with Grace. "I won't take you much time," Grace says as she holds out a small box in front of me. "I just came to give you these." My mouth fell open as she opened the box revealing gorgeous emerald earrings. I blinked, taken aback by the delicate beauty of the earrings. They were stunning, just like the dress Mira had picked out for me. Grace had a knack for making grand gestures, but this was something else entirely.
